In a new take on the classic comedy “The Naked Gun,” Akiva Schaffer of the popular comedy troupe The Lonely Island (known for Hot Rod) has been at the helm since 2022, directing and serving as an executive producer. Joining him in this reboot are Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston rounding out the cast. Schaffer, along with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, also co-wrote the screenplay for this production. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins of Fuzzy Door are producing, while Daniel M. Stillman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary serve as executive producers.

1988’s movie was a continuation of the 1982 Police Squad! series, with Dan Aykroyd reappearing as Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin. This film led to two additional installments: The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994).
