The film “The Naked Gun” is led by Akiva Schaffer from the comedy group The Lonely Island (known for “Hot Rod”), who has been in charge of the remake since 2022. Joining Liam Neeson in the cast are Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston. Schaffer collaborated on the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Additionally, Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins from Fuzzy Door are producers, while Daniel M. Stillman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary serve as executive producers.

The 1988 film was a follow-up to the 1982 Police Squad!, with Nielsen reprising his character as Detective Sergeant Frank Drebin. This movie led to two more installments in the series: The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994).
