In a buzz before its nationwide premiere, Osgood Perkins’ recent horror movie titled “The Ape” is generating excitement. Notably, the movie’s closing scene after the credits has been receiving much attention. The film takes cues from a 1980 short story by Stephen King with the same title. Critics have not only praised Perkins for delivering another horror masterpiece following his work in 2024’s “Longlegs,” but also encouraged viewers to stay till the end of the credits for a sneak peek into Perkins’ upcoming project, hinted in the closing scene of The Ape.
The Monkey follows Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trick with its post-credits scene
The story centers on the twins’ misfortunes as they accidentally set free destruction following the discovery of a puzzling wind-up monkey figure. A quarter of a century passes, and when similar occurrences happen again, the brothers reconnect to thwart the monkey’s oppressive reign.
Towards the final moments of its 98-minute duration, The Monkey appears to feature a scene after the credits, offering a sneak peek at Osgood Perkins’ future project, Keeper. This tactic is reminiscent of the end of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, where a trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was shown near its finale.
According to GamesRadar’s Total Film, it appears that the final scene in The Monkey movie could be a sneak peek of the upcoming film titled Keeper, which is scheduled for release in theaters on October 3, 2025.
In Perkins’ upcoming horror production, Tatiana Maslany plays Liz and Rossif Sutherland portrays Malcolm. The story unfolds as they journey to a remote cabin for their anniversary celebration. However, an unexpected situation compels Malcolm to leave, leaving Liz stranded at the ominous retreat. There, she encounters a sinister entity and uncovers chilling mysteries hidden within the cabin walls.
As I pen this, the details about the post-credit scene in “The Monkey” movie are still secret. However, enthusiasts of Osgood Perkins’ films will get a chance to see the Keeper preview live when “The Monkey” hits theaters on February 21, 2025.
