Legendary horror author Stephen King has given his thoughts on Neon’s upcoming film adaptation of his 1980 horror short story titled “The Monkey”, which is slated for release in cinemas on February 21, 2025.
What did Stephen King say about Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey movie?
In a current online discussion, King highly commended “The Monkey” for its extraordinary zaniness, hinting at it as an unprecedented spectacle. This innovative production is the work of director Osgood Perkins, known for his work with Longlegs Productions.
King penned that ‘THE MONKEY’ is unlike anything you’ve ever witnessed; it’s incredibly eccentric. Having dabbled in unconventional behavior myself, I express this sentiment with respect.
The movie is crafted by Perkins (both screenplay and direction). An impressive group of actors such as Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy are part of the cast. It is brought to life by producers James Wan, Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, and Dave Caplan. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Chris Ferguson, Peter Luo, Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg act as executive producers. The film originates from Atomic Monster, Stars Collective, and Black Bear, with financial backing from C2 Motion Picture Group for the project.
In the attic, twins Hal and Bill stumble upon their father’s ancient monkey toy, which triggers a chilling chain of violent deaths. Initially choosing to discard the toy and go separate ways, they drift apart over time. However, when the deadly events resume, the brothers reconnect in an attempt to permanently get rid of the monkey, fearing that it could claim the lives of those dear to them.
