The Mandalorian & Grogu Cast Adds Returning Star From Disney+ Star Wars Series

As a gamer who’s been around the block a few times, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when it comes to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Jonny Coyne’s return as an Imperial warlord is a welcome sight indeed! Remember him from Alcatraz or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood? Well, now he’s back in the Star Wars universe, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

Jonny Coyne will reprise his role as an Imperial warlord in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

In the thrilling world of Star Wars’ The Mandalorian, I found myself donning the mantle of an Imperial warlord in the seventh episode of Season 3, airing in 2023. My character and a band of fellow high-ranking Imperials convened with Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon, where we strategized about the Mandalorian’s intentions concerning Mandalore. Collectively known as the Shadow Council, we covertly opposed the New Republic, adding another layer of intrigue to this intergalactic saga.

By the specified deadline, Timothy Olyphant will once again take on his Mandalorian character in Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu, slated for release in 2026. However, the extent of Olyphant’s character involvement in the film has yet to be fully disclosed.

Apart from his role as The Mandalorian, Jason Coyne is recognized for portraying Warden Edwin James in Fox’s Alcatraz and Dr. Arthur Lydgate in ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His acting credits span movies like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003), Would You Rather (2012), The Hangover Part III (2013), The Nun (2018), and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020).

What else do we know about The Mandalorian & Grogu?

At present, specifics about the storyline for The Mandalorian and Grogu are being kept secret. Actor Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as Din Djarin, while Sigourney Weaver has been enlisted for a yet-to-be-revealed part. Not too long ago, it was made known that Jeremy Allen White from The Bear will provide the voice for Rotta the Hutt, who is Jabba the Hutt’s offspring.

According to an article in Deadline, footage presented at D23 in August revealed that the show “The Mandalorian” and Grogu will be set against a snowy landscape similar to Hoth from the 1980’s film “The Empire Strikes Back,” complete with AT-AT walkers. Additionally, Babu Frick, who appeared in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” and red alien Zeb from Filoni’s animated series “Star Wars: Rebels” are set to make cameos in the show.

Under the screenplay collaboration between Favreau and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian and Grogu will make their big-screen debut in U.S. cinemas on May 22, 2026.
