After delving into the latest updates about The Lincoln Lawyer, I must say, it seems like the third season is shaping up to be quite a rollercoaster ride for our beloved Mickey Haller! With familiar faces gracing our screens once more and some fresh talent joining the fray, it’s going to be a captivating journey indeed.

fantastic news for fans of the popular Netflix legal drama series “The Lincoln Lawyer”! Contrary to the initial plan for a 2025 release, you won’t have to wait that long anymore. Instead, “The Lincoln Lawyer” season 3 will debut on October 17, 2024!

On August 21st, Netflix shared the release date for the new season along with several sneak peeks from the upcoming episodes. These glimpses hint at Mickey Haller returning to the courtroom to handle the Glory Days murder case, and also show him sharing a close moment with Maggie.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 release date set for October: Everything we know so far

Instead of having two separate premieres in July and August 2023 like season 2 did, the entire third season of The Lincoln Lawyer, consisting of 10 episodes, will be unveiled simultaneously in October. This means that unlike before, you won’t have to wait a whole month or more to discover how the season concludes.

In the first season, they brought to life Connelly’s second book in the series titled “The Brass Verdict“. The subsequent season took on the fourth book, “The Fifth Witness“. Lana Parrilla and Yaya DaCosta joined Garcia-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, and the rest of the cast for a fresh, surprising case in season 2. In season 3, we’ll see the story unfold from Connelly’s book “The Gods of Guilt“.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 release date and news

Previously stated, the third season of “The Lincoln Lawyer” will debut on Netflix this coming Thursday, October 17th. The entire series of 10 brand-new episodes will become available at midnight Pacific Time, which is 3 a.m. Eastern Time. If you’ve been eagerly anticipating the new season for over a year, it’s understandable that you may want to start watching it right away!

On August 30, 2023, Netflix confirmed that “The Lincoln Lawyer” would return for its third season, just under a month after the release of the second season’s second part on August 3. The success of both parts of the second season, which garnered over 40 million views and ranked among the top 10 in more than 80 countries according to Netflix, likely contributed to this renewal.

In Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series, a total of seven books have been written so far. After the conclusion of season 3, there are still three remaining for potential adaptation: “The Reversal,” “The Law of Innocence,” and the upcoming release in 2023 titled “Resurrection Walk.” (The original novel was not included in the series.) If the show continues to thrive, it could potentially adapt many more of these stories beyond season 3.

Filming wrapped in June 2024

On January 18th, Netflix confirmed that the team had resumed filming for the eagerly awaited third season. It was additionally disclosed that this new season would be based on the fifth book in the The Lincoln Lawyer series titled The Gods of Guilt. After approximately half a year of filming, production came to an end by June 2024, and post-production commenced.

In the announcement for Season 3, Netflix shared that “The Lincoln Lawyer” would have another 10 episodes ready for us. At first, they didn’t say if this new season would follow the same pattern as Season 2 and be divided into two parts. Given how well the split-season approach worked in the past, many assumed that Season 3 would also be released in two halves. However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief now because Netflix has confirmed that the entire season will be available to binge at once.

New and returning cast members

In addition to its renewal, Netflix announced that Manuel Garcia-Rulfo would reprise his role as cherished character Mickey Haller, and furthermore, they confirmed several other popular cast members for Season 3. Here’s the list of the officially confirmed Season 3 cast:

  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller
  • Becki Newton as Lorna
  • Jazz Raycole as Izzy
  • Angus Sampson as Cisco
  • Yaya DaCosta as Andy Freemann
  • Elliott Gould as Legal Siegal
  • Krista Warner as Hayley
  • Fiona Rene as Glory Days
  • Devon Graye as Julian La Cosse

On February 29th, Netflix announced the addition of four new actors to the season 3 cast: Merrin Dungey, Allyn Moriyon, John Pirruccello, and Philip Anthony-Rodriguez. Notably, Merrin Dungey, similar to Lana Parrilla from season 2 who played a villain in “Once Upon a Time,” will take on the role of Judge Regina Turner. She is portrayed as a progressive judge; however, her decisions may not necessarily favor Mickey’s case.

As a gamer stepping into the shoes of Eddie Rojas, a previous babysitter of Mickey’s little girl and a dedicated fitness expert, I find myself seeking Mickey’s assistance when the need arises. In the upcoming legal drama, Pirruccello assumes the role of Mickey’s next opponent in court, while Anthony-Rodriguez portrays Chief Deputy District Attorney Adam Suarez. Once again, it seems like I’ve got my work cut out for me when dealing with Adam.

On March 26th, I was thrilled to learn that Netflix has added four new faces for season 3 of my favorite show, with one of them being a familiar character. That familiar character is none other than Jon Tenney stepping into the role of Mickey Haller Sr., the father of our beloved protagonist. Joining him in this exciting new season are Michael Irby as DEA Agent James De Marco, Maisie Klompus as Annabeth Stephens, and Wolé Parks as David Lyons. I can hardly wait to see what these talented actors bring to the table!

We also learned some information about Neve Campbell returning as Maggie in season 3.

Neve Campbell will be in season 3 (and season 4!)

Initially, I shared news that Neve Campbell wouldn’t feature in the third season based on info from The Hollywood Reporter. Yet, it appears that report was incorrect. Excitingly, Netflix confirmed the show’s return to production and also revealed that Neve would rejoin us for season 3, albeit in a recurring role. They even unveiled some sneak peeks of the upcoming season featuring her likeness. However, it seems that Neve will only make an appearance in a flashback scene during this season.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share some exciting news about my favorite series! Straight from the creators’ mouths, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, it turns out that Neve Campbell is reprising her role as Maggie in our beloved show. Can you believe it? It’s like we’re back in the game again! I can hardly wait to see what unfolds next!

We decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller — not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer, but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be. These images of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of Season 3.

Although fans may have wanted to see more of Campbell in season 3, the star has shared that if The Lincoln Lawyer is renewed for a fourth season (which seems likely since Netflix usually does), she will return as a series regular. A potential book source for season 4 offers a larger role for Maggie, which could explain why Campbell will be around for an entire season. Keep an eye out for updates about the show’s future as they become available.

Spoilers ahead from The Lincoln Lawyer season 2!

How did The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 end?

Towards the end of season 2, following the resolution of Mitchell Bondurant’s murder case for Lisa, Mickey encounters a fresh client named Julian Lacosse in prison. He stands accused of murdering his friend Giselle Dallinger. Upon meeting Julian, he mentions that Giselle spoke positively about Mickey, but Mickey is completely unfamiliar with this individual.

Mickey recognizes the dead person and learns it’s Gloria Dayton, who is also known as Glory Days. He feels devastated when he finds out this information. The second season ends mysteriously with the suggestion that Glory Days was murdered, which has a strong connection to Mickey. Since the third season will be based on the book “The Gods of Guilt,” it seems likely that it will focus on Julian’s trial for this murder.
