The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 ending, explained: Who killed Glory Days?

As a devoted viewer of The Lincoln Lawyer, I must say that this latest season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! With my years of legal drama consumption under my belt, I can confidently say that this is one of the most gripping and unpredictable seasons yet.

Warning: This post contains spoilers from The Lincoln Lawyer season 3.

The third season of “The Lincoln Lawyer” officially debuted on October 17th, offering an even more thrilling installment of Netflix’s popular legal drama series. Comprising ten episodes, this new season is based on Michael Connelly’s book titled “The Gods of Guilt“. The storyline follows the investigation and trial that unfolds after the murder of Gloria Dayton, also known as Glory Days.

In this new installment, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo reprises his role as Mickey Haller, the rugged, somewhat unpolished yet irresistibly endearing criminal defense attorney. This time, he takes on the case of Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye), who is accused of murdering Glory Days (Fiona Rene). The trial appears to be a tough climb, leading Mickey and his team down unanticipated paths, including an investigation into a possible conspiracy within the Drug Enforcement Administration.

If you’re curious about who was behind the murder of Glory Days in The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, or how testify changed the course of events, we’ll share the details of the trial’s conclusion. Unraveling this mystery, we reveal the identity of the killer from Mickey Haller’s latest investigation.

Here’s your final spoiler warning before the big reveals!

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 ending, explained: Who killed Glory Days?

Julian didn’t kill Glory Days… DeMarco did!

In an unexpected twist for me as a devoted fan of The Lincoln Lawyer, it turned out that Mickey’s client, Julian La Cosse, wasn’t the one responsible for Glory Days/Gloria’s murder this season. Despite the prosecution’s relentless efforts to obstruct my investigation and convict an innocent man, I was determined not to let this injustice stand. It seemed there was a far greater game at play here that needed uncovering.

Throughout the season, it became increasingly apparent to Mickey and his crew that DEA Agent James De Marco (Michael Irby) was up to something fishy. Initially, the murder was attributed to Julian, but during the trial, De Marco’s investigator and ex-LAPD detective Neil Bishop (Holt McCallany) spoke up on the stand, shifting the entire course of the case for Mickey and Julian.

In a surprising turn of events, it was disclosed that Bishop had been the “Man in the Hat” who had trailed Gloria, following her instructions from De Marco. They first crossed paths at Gloria’s apartment, where earlier Bishop had observed Julian entering and exiting swiftly. However, when De Marco approached the apartment, deliberately steering clear of the door with a camera, Bishop departed in his vehicle. Unconvinced by De Marco’s tale that he discovered Gloria already deceased, Bishop harbored doubts about their encounter.

In a rather messy predicament involving De Marco and the cartel boss Hector Moya (Arturo del Puerto), I sadly met my end at the hands of De Marco, serving as a cloak for his illicit activities. The circumstances were equally unfortunate, claiming the lives of Mickey’s new driver Eddie Rojas (Allyn Moriyon) and Neil Bishop as well – both losses that are deeply regrettable.

Three major deaths rock season 3 (and tease season 4)

In episode 5, Eddie met an unfortunate fate when Mickey’s Lincoln was attacked by rivals, leading to a car accident. Following the incident, Mickey’s safety became a priority and he needed security detail throughout the trial period. As for future seasons, with the dramatic ending of season 3 hinting at potential dangers ahead, it might be wise for Mickey to have additional protection.

After testifying against De Marco, Bishop took his own life in the courtroom. There’s a sense that he expected reprisals for revealing the truth about De Marco. However, De Marco manages to escape but may be pursued by Moya. Despite surrendering his weapon during intense questioning, Bishop concealed another firearm on his ankle. The court is left stunned by this turn of events.

Mickey triumphantly champions Julian, prompting the team to rejoice in another win, a victory they can truly be proud of. Following their meal with Lorna, Cisco, and Izzy, Mickey heads home in his convertible. However, he’s stopped by a police officer who notices blood leaking from his vehicle. This leads to Mickey being handcuffed, and the discovery of Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton) deceased in the trunk.

It’s clear now that Mickey didn’t murder Sam Scales, which suggests he’s being framed by one of his numerous adversaries. While he’s successfully defended others to not-guilty verdicts, this trial seems set to be the most challenging he’s ever faced. Could this plotline signal Neve Campbell’s full-time return as Maggie in season 4? We’re eagerly anticipating how this story unfolds in the possible season 4!
