Sony and Nintendo have selected the actors portraying Link and Zelda for their upcoming live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.

Who is in The Legend of Zelda movie?

On Wednesday’s X post, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto disclosed that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth was chosen to portray Link, while Bo Bragason was selected for the role of Zelda in The Legend of Zelda series.

The Nintendo account has confirmed that Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will be playing Zelda and Link respectively in the upcoming live-action film of The Legend of Zelda. I can hardly wait to see these talented actors bring these iconic characters to life on the big screen.

Ainsworth is an English actor who gained prominence for lending his voice to Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action reboot of Pinocchio. Among other significant roles, he played Miles in the horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix, William in Disney’s Flora & Ulysses, and Mark Critch in Son of a Critch.

In the BBC One series “Three Girls,” English actor Bragason took on the character of Rachel Winshaw. Previously, he portrayed Amy Knightly in “The Jetty,” Roxy Jackson in “Renegade Nell,” and Clara Radley in “The Radleys.

Wes Ball has been assigned as the director for The Legend of Zelda project. Notably, he’s recognized for his work on all three Maze Runner films. Most recently, Ball oversaw the production of the latest installment in the Planet of the Apes series, titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Nintendo and Sony Pictures are teaming up financially and handling the distribution of the upcoming “Zelda” film. Shigeru Miyamoto, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Avi Arad will serve as producers for this project.

In 1986, the epic tale known as “The Legend of Zelda” was introduced by Nintendo. This game centers around a character resembling an elf, named Link, along with Princess Zelda, who together battle against the wicked ruler Ganon to protect the mystical land of Hyrule.

Nintendo aims to broaden the scope of its cinematic influence, capitalizing on the global success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which raked in more than $1.3 billion at box offices worldwide.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 7, 2027.
