Since yesterday, Nintendo unveiled their Nintendo Today app, intended to disseminate company news and updates about their games moving forward. Interestingly, the first significant story on the app is quite substantial – Nintendo announced that the long-awaited Legend of Zelda movie, jointly developed with Sony Pictures, will hit theaters in March 2027.
Right in the heart of my screen, the Nintendo Today app gleamed with excitement, announcing its debut on Android and iOS devices just a few days ago. And there it was, the news I’ve been eagerly waiting for – the Legend of Zelda movie will be gracing the big screen on March 26, 2027! Can’t wait to embark on this magical adventure!
In November 2023, Nintendo initially revealed plans for a collaborative live-action movie with Sony on The Legend of Zelda. Since then, details have been scarce, but given the upcoming release date, we can expect more information to surface over the next year. Notably, the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1 billion at worldwide box offices within a month, suggests that Nintendo is increasingly investing in film projects.
It seems that Nintendo has started sharing significant company updates and product details through its Nintendo Today app. Keep an eye out here on Shacknews for future news regarding Nintendo Today and the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie.
