The Last Showgirl Is ‘Payback’ for Hulu’s Pam & Tommy Show, Says Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson says The Last Showgirl is the “best payback” for Hulu’s Pam & Tommy show.

In the new drama “The Last Showgirl,” directed by Gia Coppola and currently screening in U.S. cinemas, Anderson takes on the role of Shelly Gardner. This film had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 and has been gathering praise ever since. Anderson’s performance in this movie earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture at the Golden Globes, along with other prestigious awards.

In addition, Anderson was featured in a 2022 Hulu mini-series titled “Pam & Tommy.” This series showcased Lily James as Anderson and Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee.

What did Pamela Anderson say about Pam & Tommy and The Last Showgirl?

Previously criticizing Hulu’s Pam & Tommy series for failing to consult her regarding the subject matter, Anderson recently expressed that the show was upsetting as she had “no involvement” during an interview on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

During the making of my Netflix documentary, “Pamela, a Love Story”, I discovered the Hulu matter for the first time. At that point, I had no prior knowledge about it.

She added, “In essence, they were saying that you’re open for discussion. A while back, I was told that you’re essentially in the public domain with minimal rights to personal privacy.

As Anderson herself puts it, she doesn’t linger on the show “Pam & Tommy.” Yet, it felt somewhat peculiar to her that during a challenging period in my life, they chose to create a series, which garnered numerous Emmy nominations and recognition.

Anderson continued she doesn’t think James is to blame for Pam & Tommy.

She went on to say, ‘Look, she’s undeniably talented, but it’s just one of those situations. It occurred in the past, and now I find myself here. For me, appearing in The Last Showgirl is a way of getting back at whatever happened before; it’s about being acknowledged for my professional achievements rather than those questionable incidents.’
