The insights he has provided into the world of game design have been nothing short of inspiring, and I’ve learned so much from each episode.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excitedly sharing the news that Masahiro Sakurai’s YouTube series, “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games,” is nearing its conclusion. The legendary Smash Bros. director has hinted at this numerous times before, but now we have an official air date for the final regular episode—it’s slated for mid-October. This will mark the end of the main series, but Sakurai has also hinted at a special finale episode to give the series a fitting farewell.
On his own YouTube channel dedicated to game creation, Sakurai announced the conclusion of his series and revealed that its last episode will air on October 15th.
It’s a mix of joy and sadness to confirm. Sakurai’s YouTube channel has been an enlightening and entertaining resource, providing insights into game design ideas and elements used in his own games. While it’s great that there are still two more episodes to anticipate, we also knew this transition was on the horizon. Back in January, Sakurai announced that he would be wrapping up the channel with final episodes so he could focus on a new venture. Most speculate that he’ll return to direct a new game, but his future plans are yet to be clarified.
