Neil Druckmann, the showrunner and creator of “The Last of Us,” has voiced his expectations regarding fan reactions to the modifications they’ve implemented in the upcoming season of the popular HBO drama. Season 2 is adapted from Naughty Dog’s critically-acclaimed video game sequel, “The Last of Us Part II,” which features a time leap showing a fully grown Ellie. The series will resume on April 13.

Instead, he emphasized that he and co-showrunner Craig Mazin are dedicated to making the most suitable decisions for the show’s development.

Druckmann expressed that he has mentioned this point earlier, but he strongly believes that the best way to respect and honor our fans is by not allowing their influence or pressure to dictate our creative process. He explained that Craig and he are extremely careful when examining every moment and creative choice in order to explore all possible options and make the right decision for The Last of Us within this medium, which might not be the same for The Last of Us in a video game format.
