The Last of Us Season 2 Finale Accidentally Released Early, User Claims

A user on Reddit asserted that the finale of “The Last of Us Season 2” was made available ahead of schedule on the platform. In total, the second season consists of seven episodes, with the concluding episode scheduled for May 25, 2025. However, this user claims they had already viewed the episode several days prior to its intended air date and even provided what appears to be evidence to back up their statement.

The Last of Us Season 2 finale came out early, but you can’t watch it now

It appears that the Season 2 finale of The Last of Us was allegedly released prematurely on some platforms, like Apple TV+, as suggested by a post on Reddit. A user claimed they had early access due to their Season Pass and subsequently watched the episode, potentially revealing major spoilers from it before the official premiere date of May 25 (as reported by Dexerto).

Despite the authenticity of these leaks, the audience is left without the option of watching the finale immediately and must instead wait until May 25th. It’s not uncommon for HBO’s prominent productions to encounter issues with prematurely released season finales.

From April 17, 2011 to May 19, 2019, the television series Game of Thrones was broadcast on HBO. During this run, various episodes were allegedly leaked ahead of their scheduled airtime. In a similar fashion, it’s said that House of the Dragon, a derivative of Game of Thrones, also faced a similar predicament with leaks before release.

Indeed, as previously stated, the initial episodes were released prematurely due to a leak in the past. Yet, it appears that the problem surrounding the finale of The Last of Us Season 2 is distinct from that scenario.

Developed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic survival drama television show inspired by the video game series with the same name. From January 15, 2023, to March 12, 2023, Season 1 was broadcasted, followed by Season 2’s premiere on April 13, 2025. The star-studded cast for the second season includes Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller, along with numerous other talented actors.
