As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of WWE fandom under my belt, I must say that this recent exchange between JD McDonagh and the SmackDown tag team division has me intrigued! The World Tag Team Titles have always been a coveted prize in the WWE universe, and it’s fascinating to witness such a heated rivalry unfold.
On a recent occasion, the stars of WWE SmackDown found themselves under scrutiny, this time by member of Judgment Day, JD McDonagh. Notably recognized as one half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions, McDonagh has now turned his gaze towards the tag team division on the blue brand.
In the forthcoming episode of WWE RAW, we have an exciting showdown on tap – the much-awaited battle for the World Tag Team championship! The reigning champs, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, are set to protect their crowns against The War Raiders.
On June 24th, Balor and McDonagh snatched the World Tag Team Championships from The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth). Liv Morgan significantly contributed to their title win. Since then, they’ve been guarding their titles without a break. In September, they successfully defended their championship against The New Day on an episode of WWE RAW.

Balor and McDonagh have been World Tag Team champions for 168 days, yet they’ve only defended their titles on one occasion, which has drawn frequent criticism from fans. Recently, JD McDonagh has taken a jab at WWE SmackDown’s tag team division.
JD McDonagh makes strong comments about WWE SmackDown’s tag team division
At WrestleMania 40, the WWE Tag Team championship was divided into two distinct titles: one for RAW (World Tag Team Championship) and another for SmackDown (Tag Team Championship). Essentially, each brand now has its own tag team title.
Since that time, two pairs have held the World Tag Team Titles on RAW: The Awesome Truth and the present champions, The Judgment Day. On SmackDown, four teams have been in possession of the WWE Tag Team Titles. These teams are A-Town Down Under, The Bloodline, The Motor City Machine Guns, and DIY. Currently, DIY – made up of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa – are the champions of the blue brand.
Prior to their forthcoming championship defense, JD McDonagh took to Twitter to voice his criticisms about SmackDown’s tag team division. He emphasized that four different teams have claimed the WWE Tag Team Titles since he and Finn Balor held them, referring to their reign as a “legacy run.
With The Judgment Day preparing to defend their World Tag Team Championships for a second time, it’s intriguing to observe if they can manage to keep hold of their titles.
