The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Haymitch Actor Possibly Found

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping may have found its Haymitch Abernathy actor.

Who is being eyed to play Haymitch in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping?

Based on a recent update from Nexus Point News, it appears Charlie Plummer is being strongly considered for the iconic role that was previously played by Woody Harrelson in the movie trilogy. As of now, no formal offer has been extended, but Plummer seems to be the primary choice at this stage.

Known primarily for playing John Paul Getty III in Ridley Scott’s movie “All the Money in the World,” and for his leading role in the drama “Lean on Pete,” this actor has also graced many popular TV shows such as Boardwalk Empire, Granite Flats, Looking for Alaska, and The First Lady.

24 years prior to the events portrayed in the original series, we find ourselves at Sunrise on the Reaping, a time when Haymitch Abernathy, famously played by Woody Harrelson, emerged victorious in the 50th Hunger Games. This made him the sole victor from District 12 until the arrival of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark on the scene.

On November 20, 2026, the movie “The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping” will hit theaters across the United States, distributed by Lionsgate.

The upcoming prequel film for “The Hunger Games” series is under Francis Lawrence’s guidance as director. He was previously involved in several installments of the franchise. Producing this movie are Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, while Cameron MacConomy holds the role of executive producer.

Billy Ray is currently crafting the screenplay for Sunrise at the Harvest. Previously, he worked on the script for the initial Hunger Games film, which debuted in 2012, and received an Academy Award nomination for writing 2013’s Captain Phillips.

Apart from his other duties, he’s been involved in writing movie scripts including Volcano (from 1997), Shattered Glass which he also directed in 2003, Suspect Zero and State of Play in 2004 and 2009 respectively, Overlord, Gemini Man, Terminator: Dark Fate, Richard Jewell, and many more.
