Mckenna Grace has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
In November 2026, the movie version of “The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping,” based on the latest book by Suzanne Collins, will hit U.S. cinemas. This film production, helmed by director Francis Lawrence, comes from Lionsgate.
Who will McKenna Grace be playing in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping?
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that I, Grace, have been chosen to portray Maysilee Donner – a fellow tribute from District 12 alongside Haymitch Abernathy in “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping”. Exciting updates have been rolling in as Joseph Zada was announced for his role as Haymitch, and Whitney Peak will bring Lenore Dove Baird, Haymitch’s love interest, to life on screen. Can’t wait to see this epic tale unfold!
Sunrise on the Reaping takes us to the world of Panem, twenty-four years prior to The Hunger Games, and it unfolds from the morning of the drawing for the Fiftieth Hunger Games, or the Second Quarter Quell, as this event is also known.
The script for “Sunrise at the Harvest” was penned by Billy Ray. Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, and Cameron MacConomy will act as producers, with the latter serving in an executive role. Meredith Wieck and Scott O’Brien are supervising the project for Lionsgate.
In recent years, Grace has become widely recognized for her roles, most notably Phoebe Spengler in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024). Her impressive film portfolio also includes Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), Gifted (2017), Captain Marvel (2019), Annabelle Comes Home (2019), Malignant (2021) and numerous other productions. Additionally, she has graced various television series such as The Haunting of Hill House, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Handmaid’s Tale, A Friend of the Family, and many more.
The movie ‘Sunrise at the Harvest’ is set to hit U.S. cinemas on November 20, 2026, distributed by Lionsgate. Originally penned by Collins, the book was published on March 18 and can now be bought.
