Production is now underway on Paul Feig’s The Housemaid.
A fresh film titled “The Housemaid” is set to hit the screens towards the end of this year, with its origins stemming from the 2022 book authored by Freida McFadden. The cast includes Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and other notable actors.
The official Instagram account for ‘The Housemaid’ has posted a backstage video, signaling that filming for the movie has started. Take a look at the video below to catch more previews and snippets:

What is The Housemaid about?
In ‘The Housemaid’, Millie (played by Sydney Sweeney) is a hard-up young lady who finds a new lease on life as a housekeeper for the affluent couple, Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar). However, she quickly discovers that the family’s hidden truths pose a greater threat than her own.
In addition to Sweeney (known for Euphoria and Anyone but You) and Seyfried (recognized from Jennifer’s Body and Mean Girls), The Housemaid features Brandon Sklenar (who played in It Ends with Us and Emily the Criminal) and Michele Morrone (famous for 365 Days).
In the movie, it was Rebecca Sonnenshine who penned down the screenplay, while Feig, Todd Lieberman, Carly Kleinbart Elter, and Laura Fischer took up the roles as producers.
Feig is well-known for producing the popular but short-lived television series Freaks and Geeks which aired on NBC from 1999 to 2000. He started his career as a feature film director in 2003 with I Am David, followed by Unaccompanied Minors (2006), Bridesmaids (2011), The Heat (2013), Spy (2015), Ghostbusters (2016), A Simple Favor (2018), Last Christmas (2019), The School for Good and Evil (2022), and most recently, Jackpot! (2024).
Apart from “The Housemaid,” he’s also involved in the development of a follow-up to “A Simple Favor.” This upcoming movie will feature Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and Henry Golding reprising their characters from the original film. As of now, there isn’t a confirmed release date for “A Simple Favor 2.”
The Housemaid will be released in United States theaters on December 25, 2025, from Lionsgate.
