As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of familiarity when it comes to discussions about XP farming and grind in The First Descendant. It seems like we’ve been here before, haven’t we?
Since its debut last month, The First Descendant has maintained a robust player base, yet it’s evident that there’s been a gradual drop in numbers. A significant factor contributing to this is the game’s structure, which some players find grind-heavy. Discussions about XP and gold farming have been prevalent within the gaming community, with many players urging Nexon to shorten the process of earning EXP. Fortunately, suggestions for improvement from the community are already promising.
The original post says, “It’s exhausting when we need to clarify our descendants at least six times for a good build.” They further explain that Nexon keeps adjusting the EXP exploits that the community discovers, which makes it more challenging to keep progressing without dedicating the time required for leveling up.
Although there’s been plenty of chatter about The First Descendant’s XP issue, often without a long-term solution being proposed. However, in the same discussion, Redditor u/shadowknight2112 suggested an intriguing potential remedy: increasing XP by approximately 25% (or so) whenever a catalyst is used. This idea seems quite promising and could be one of the best solutions I’ve encountered recently. Although its origin isn’t clear, it certainly appears to be a promising outcome from this ongoing debate.
It’s clear that Nexon has been responsive to player feedback, regularly introducing ways to increase XP gain and making adjustments based on player suggestions, such as implementing public matchmaking on Hard infiltrations and addressing the Valby Run exploit. This demonstrates their commitment to keeping players engaged. A Reddit user, u/feelin_fine, suggested that future changes might boost XP gains by up to 25%, perhaps even 10% if Nexon is feeling generous. They also stated that all game adjustments have never aimed at reducing the amount of time players spend playing the game. However, another community member argued that recent updates actually reduced the time spent farming for resources like Amorphous and other materials by around 4 minutes per outpost.
If Nexon were to implement this update into The First Descendant, it could potentially allow players to spend less extended periods in the game, making it more likely that we won’t observe significant adjustments to the experience points (XP) rates within the game. A key element that Live Service games require is extensive playtime. Since TFD doesn’t rely on up-front sales, it primarily depends on microtransactions to maintain its operations.
