As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent traversing digital landscapes, I can wholeheartedly empathize with the plight of The First Descendant players who are yearning for a smoother gaming experience. The non-toggled running in TFD feels more akin to wading through molasses than sprinting, and it’s high time this issue was addressed.
As a dedicated fan of The First Descendant, I’ve been thrilled to see that Nexon has been attentive to our feedback since the game’s launch. This focus has led to some fantastic quality-of-life enhancements that have made my gaming experience even better. Our community is vocal and passionate, and the feedback we share on social media is often thoughtful rather than harsh. Exciting news for us this week, as a new update is on the horizon! Many of us are eagerly anticipating Nexon’s decision to remove a toggle that has been causing frustration among players due to its perceived annoyance and lack of utility. Here’s hoping for an even smoother gaming journey ahead!
Season 1 demonstrates Nexon’s responsiveness to the TFD community. Adjusting their plans based on player input, they streamlined the Season 1 release from three updates into just two, with the second scheduled for October 10th. Furthermore, as detailed in the 1.1.0b hotfix patch notes, Nexon boosted the farming rate for Hailey as a gesture of apology to their fans.
Initially, I found The First Descendant quite impressive, but there are certain areas that could use some refinement, as is common with many games. Nexon has been commendable in their efforts to enhance the player experience through regular updates, and a significant number of players have expressed a desire for modifications to the game’s sprinting system.
The First Descendant fans “non-toggled running removed”
On the r/FirstDescendant subreddit, user WanderWut expressed their discontent through a post entitled “The standard, non-toggled running in the game should be eliminated”. They contend that “It’s agonizingly slow and I can’t fathom why it exists; it feels like moving at a snail’s pace on a pool of molasses.”
In simpler terms, the original poster suggests that in high-speed action games where you collect loot (looter shooters), the current method of sprinting (toggled running) should be the default movement, not walking. Additionally, they propose adding a faster running speed for more intense chases or escapes.
The “regular” non-toggled running needs to be removed from the game.

In reaction to the post, numerous responses suggest that Nexon could simply eliminate the bothersome toggle feature and make running the default setting instead. Reflecting this idea, one comment reads, “Make sprinting the standard and allow for a walk toggle,” and another says, “Just provide us with automatic sprint.”
More comments echo the sentiment that sprinting should become the default for combat. One reply says the non-toggled running is “literally useless, I’m ALWAYS annoyed when I try to move around and it’s just walking speed”. Another comment says, “I’d settle for the walk being removed as the default movement in combat maps and move the walk to city Albion only. Its very annoying to have to constantly hit a run button in combat”.
The need to manually switch to sprint mode is often criticized as “irritating,” and some players have added that it can become particularly aggravating with certain characters. For instance, one user suggested that an automatic sprint feature would significantly improve the quality of life for Jayber, as triggering his skills always causes him to stop sprinting, making his gameplay quite difficult at times.
The suggestion from the community for eliminating the separate button press to sprint and making it the default mode of movement outside urban areas is a beneficial idea for player comfort. Instead of forcing this change upon all players, it might be more suitable for Nexon to introduce an auto-sprint feature in the game’s settings. This would give players the freedom to turn off the automatic sprint if they prefer, while those who want to keep the current setup can do so.
