The initial release of The First Descendant is remarkable yet not flawless. Nexon has an array of enticing plans in development, as suggested by the 2025 roadmap for February and the developers’ intentions for Season 3 in March. Despite a wealth of upcoming content for TFD, there’s a conundrum that needs to be addressed once gameplay confirms the stunning revelation within the conspiracy theory circulating among The First Descendant community is indeed authentic.
The First Descendant gameplay provides TFD “deletes your bullets”
Within the First Descendant community, there’s been a circulating speculation regarding First-Person Shooter games and the relationship between Damage per Second (DPS) and whether bullets accurately hit their targets.
Instead of dismissing complaints as “improve your skill,” “just get better,” or “try a different weapon,” a video demonstration by YouTube user Vash Cowaii reveals that the criticism is indeed valid. This video evidence shows that the TFD gun effectively nullifies your bullets.
In the demonstration of the game, we’re illustrating how The First Descendant’s fire rate gets affected based on the Frames Per Second (FPS) you’re playing at. We do this by comparing two different FPS rates, specifically 30 FPS and over 140 FPS, to clearly display the impact of FPS on the game’s fire rate.
The experiment conducted had the YouTube content creator firing at a massive entity (Colossus) in two First-Person Shooter games. This was done to ensure that the amount of damage inflicted on the boss character remained consistent across both game examples, provided that the Colossus wasn’t destroyed, and an identical rate of fire was maintained.
To ensure there was no room for misinterpretation, the YouTuber performed the test not just once but four times, at both 30 FPS and over 140 FPS, while adjusting the rate of play and employing the “Amplification mod to nullify critical damage multiplier”. The Moltren Fortress was chosen for this test as it offers fewer opportunities to hit weak points compared to other bosses.
Vash Cowaii found that at rates of 800 and 1000 fires per second, the outcomes were nearly indistinguishable. However, at a rate of 1333, there was noticeable damage reduction, and at 1818 fires per second, this difference became equally prominent.
According to Vash’s interpretation, when running at over 140 frames per second (FPS), the differences in results are minimal, but there seems to be a slight discrepancy at a fire rate of 1,333 which might simply be an anomaly or outlier. This observation indicates that The First Descendant may have two potential issues.
The initial issue lies in the fact that “the speed at which bullets are fired can be affected by your frame rate,” as demonstrated, and the second problem stems from the observation that “as your fire rate increases, you end up losing more damage.” According to a YouTuber, when the frame rate is 140FPS, there’s a 25% loss in damage between a fire rate of 1,333 and 1,818.
Finally, the YouTuber declares that although the high fire-rate FPS problem is frustrating, “it’s just plain silly for this game to be swallowing your bullets, which is simply unintelligent.” Here’s a link to the gameplay video for you to see: [Gameplay Demonstration Link]
It’s unfortunate that the issue isn’t included in the upcoming update schedule on February 6th, but let’s keep our fingers crossed that Nexon can address and rectify it.
