As a seasoned Descendant, I’ve seen my fair share of updates and tweaks to this game we all love. But this latest one, well, it’s like they’ve been listening to our prayers! The socket type saving feature is a godsend, no more fiddling around trying to remember which slot has which type. And the ability to apply multiple Socket Types depending on your builds? Now that’s efficiency at its finest!

The First Descendant is an amazing experience, and all of the joy so far has occurred during pre-season. The game’s very first chapter is imminent, and there is a lot to look forward to from a new playable character to another Ultimate. However, as revealed in The First Descendant early Season 1 patch notes, there’s plenty more including a new difficulty, more weapons, skins, and plenty else.

At Gamescom 2024 on August 23rd, during Microsoft’s third and last event showcase, players can expect to see the game in action. The First Descendant early Season 1 patch notes

Below are The First Descendant early Season 1 patch notes as shared on the official TFD X account:

Karel’s New Weapon

As a devoted follower, I’ve crafted a cutting-edge strategic tool for retaliation – a marvel born from the ancient tech unearthed by Amon. This innovative weapon will become our vanguard, the Vulgus Legion’s tactical shift, in our ongoing battle against the Descendants.

During the Invasion Season, an Invasion event will take place every day in two of our “Tough Incursion Missions” dungeons. Once the Invasion has started in a specific dungeon, you may initiate it by choosing either the “Incursion Mission” or the “Invasion”, and each dungeon allows for the clearing of the Invasion event twice daily.

In these Invasion Dungeons, you’ll be pushed to your limits by testing both your abilities and strategic thinking. Karel has constructed a defense system with unique mechanisms for each legion, creating solo challenges that offer distinct paths, puzzles, and strategies unlike those found in regular dungeons. Your mission is to repel the invasion as efficiently as possible.

New Descendant, Hailey Scott

Originally a renowned sniper within a guerrilla unit’s supply team, Hailey has recently joined the Descendant Corps. Her skills extend beyond long-range elimination of enemies with her anti-material Sniper Cannon; she also possesses the unique ability to lower her body temperature drastically, emanating Chill when feelings intensify. Although Hailey shares an appreciation for Viessa, who controls Chill spontaneously, and is a ruthless marksman in combat, she’s equally known for her kind-hearted nature. She delights in creating snow crystals and bringing joy to children’s lives.

  • Cryo Round:
    • Instantly fires a Cryo Round that automatically tracks the enemy, deals damage and inflicts ‘Cryo’ which deals Additional Damage along with Hailey’s Firearm Damage.
  • Storm Snare:
    • Fires a Freezing Beam that unleashes a Chill Vortex around you and knocks back enemies. Inflicts ‘Cryo’ on enemies that take Damage.
  • Cold Fury:
    • Hailey’s Movement Speed gradually decreases, but her Firearm and Skill Critical Hit Rate, and Firearm Penetration all increase significantly.
  • Zenith:
    • Replaces Hailey’s weapon with her Unique Weapon, anti-material Sniper Cannon. Penetration of the anti-material Sniper Cannon and Firearm ATK greatly increase and deal additional Chill skill damage. Recovers MP upon successfully attacking Weak Points and decreases the Cooldown the more Bullets you have remaining when the skill ends.

Inversion Reinforcer for Season Progression

As a result of frequent interactions with Ironhearts, the descendants noticed a transformation in their inherent nature, or Arche. Over time, their Arche started absorbing energy from a shattered Ironheart. Capitalizing on this energy as a powerful resource, the descendants are now capable of acquiring new abilities through the use of Inversion Reinforcers.

  • Hunt: Improves the Descendant’s basic Stats.
  • Attribute: Improves the Descendant’s Attribute Resistance.
  • Recovery: Improves the Descendant’s Recovery.
  • Survival: Receives a defense buff that activates under certain conditions.
  • Season: Receives an effect that is useful for Invasion Dungeons.

The Inversion Reinforcement system is a temporary progression structure limited to a single season. To master the Inversion Reinforcement Phenomenon, you can obtain the “Ironheart Particle” by either completing Invasion dungeons or participating in the Hard Difficulty Fields. You have the option to pick three effects that have been activated. When all four effects within a particular row are unlocked, you automatically gain the Collection Effect for that specific line. The Collection Effects are passive abilities that remain active throughout the season. In essence, if you manage to unlock all the Inversion Reinforcement effects, you can use 3 chosen effects and 5 Collection Effects from each row in combat during the season.

Freyna’s Awakening, Ultimate Freyna

Even after the harrowing events of Room 0 Incident, Freyna’s emotional turmoil has left her life on hold. In the first season, we delve into the tale of Freyna, who mourns her loss in solitude. This unique story, available only on Descendant, takes you inside the tormented psyche of a fallen hero, burdened with guilt and self-loathing for having survived while being unable to save her beloved and companions.

Is it possible that she’ll conquer her past hardships? Then you’ll encounter the extraordinary Freyna, who surpassed her boundaries. Additionally, there are unique Upgrade Kits tailored for her.

In the future, our descendants’ collection will grow with each seasonal release, as the narratives of the Descendants evolve and The First Descendant’s backstory unfolds. Following the conclusion of Season 1: Ultimate Freyna, subsequent updates for the Ultimate Descendants series will follow in sequence, starting with the initial group of descendants who join Corps.

New Ultimate Weapons

  • Excava:
    • A powerful and versatile Ultimate Weapon, this Assault Rifle arrives with this update. Also acquirable as a free Battle Pass reward, Excava charges voltage when attacking enemies and uses the charged voltage to fire Energy Grenades.
  • Frost Watcher:
    • Acquirable through gameplay, this Scout Rifle reduces an enemy’s Chill Resistance and increases your Chill Skill Damage each time you hit the enemy at long range. It’s a perfect weapon for Viessa or Hailey who use Chill attribute skills.

The Looming Threat Over Ingris, Death Stalker Intercept Battle

Behind the Barrier of Dimensions, the Colossi continue to pose a danger to England. Now is the moment to encounter the mightiest Colossus of Season 1, the Deadly Pursuer, known as Death Stalker.

As a dedicated follower, I step forth to confront the spectral presence that is Death Stalker. From the shadows of the Void, this colossal adversary stalks the Descendants with poisonous strikes and fear-inducing tactics. No other Colossus you’ve faced before can compare to Death Stalker’s ominous power. It’s up to me to leap back into the Void and defend Ingris from this looming threat. Unraveling the enigma veiled in darkness, I must intercept Death Stalker.

Highest Difficulty Infiltration Operation and ETA-0

In Season 1, we’ll introduce the toughest level for Infiltration Missions. This will serve as a training ground to perfect your fine-tuned setups. Either team up with others or take on tougher Infiltration Missions in the multiplayer mode. Demonstrate the might of the Descendants and earn loot exclusive to harder Infiltration Missions.

Additionally, a cryptic trader named ETA-0 makes appearances in Albion. Each visit sees him offering an array of unique items that can only be bought with special currency. His stock changes every visit. As he frequently brings blueprints for Descendants and Ultimate Weapons, as well as rare consumables, ensure you don’t miss the opportunity to meet ETA-0.

Season 1: Invasion Update Schedule

Additional Improvements Applied to Season 1

Finally, here’s the news on the improvements that will be applied with Season 1 on August 29th.

Void Fragment and Fusion Reactor Loop Improvements

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours battling monsters and navigating various game worlds, I must say that this recent update to Void Fragments has made my gaming experience significantly more enjoyable. Previously, farming for Void Shards was quite tedious, but now, with just one play on Hard Difficulty, I can power up my Fusion Reactor once – a huge boost!

Now, instead of needing Void Shards at the outset of the mission, the Fusion Reactor will require them when using the Reconstructed Device. This change means that your Void Shards won’t be used unintentionally should you mistakenly enter the Fusion Reactor.

Hard Infiltration Operation Improvements

0%, 125%, and 250%. Players opting for the identical preset will be able to join each other in public multiplayer matches.

To keep the variety of matching groups under control, descendants who opt for the same Infiltration Operation will now be grouped together, irrespective of their chosen rewards. Consequently, any global impacts previously tied to the chosen rewards will no longer apply.

Lastly, instead of the Timed Occupation Mission in Hard Infiltration Operations, there will be a new mission called Extermination Battle. The time for this battle can be shortened according to the player’s skills (or abilities) as a Descendant.

Socket Type Saving Feature Improvements

After setting a Socket’s Type, the chosen type is locked in for that slot, allowing for future flexibility. For instance, if a user switches an Almandine Socket to a Malachite one, they can effortlessly toggle between Almandine and Malachite options within that same Socket later on.

Furthermore, the Socket Type assigned to Loadout Setting 1 can be utilized across Settings 2 and 3 too, enabling you to allocate various Socket Types exclusively to the slots that necessitate multiple Socket Types based on your game setup.

Descendant Balance Adjustments

Jayber’s Turret now incorporates features like Skill Power Modifier and extra Attack, and can be further upgraded using Descendant Modules. Moreover, the “Turret Sync” skill of Jayber has been revised to affect the turret that Jayber summons. If the “Turret Engineering” Modification Module is equipped, the summoned turret now generates a specific area.

In the latest update, Blair’s expertise as a Pitmaster has been refined to provide a stronger impact relative to the number of active Flame Zones. The length of the “Blaze Up” ability has been extended and its MP cost decreased. When employing the “Extinguish” skill, rather than reclaiming a Flame Zone, the “Taste of Aggression” effect will accumulate according to the number of active zones. The potency of the “Burn Taste” skill has been intensified, and a new feature allows for canceling the skill during use by inputting specific button combinations. Moreover, the Max Stacks for the “Incendiary Bomb” Modification Module have been expanded, and the effectiveness of the “Deadly Cuisine” ability has been optimized when the “Classic Chef” Modification Module is activated.

Ajax’s abilities “Orbital Barrier” and “Hyper Cube” have gained resistance to Attribute Reduction, making them even more powerful. The “Body Enhancement” Modification enhances HP, Defense, and Shield, with Void Energy always regenerating to 100% when these skills are used, enabling the frequent use of Advanced Skills. Furthermore, the “Void Charge” Modification enables multiple applications of the “Void Walk” skill, and both “Void Walk” and “Expulsion” abilities have been adjusted to increase damage based on Defense. Lastly, using an Enhanced Skill will now reset its cooldown.

Various UX Improvements

1. In an update, a function for marking random choices has been incorporated into the External Components Junk Filter and Reactor. This enables you to quickly label non-random items as junk. Furthermore, the option to break down items during battle has been introduced.

You can now assign various shapes to the displayed options that represent your preferred item attachments, making it possible for you to organize them based on their functions by using distinct shapes for each one.

The “Favorites” function is now integrated within the Research menu, allowing for quick access to previously selected items, and their relevant data will now appear directly on the map for easier navigation.

In this update, you’ll find enhancements to the icon details displayed earlier in v1.0.7, a setting to mute voice prompts during challenging missions, new visual elements for the Encrypted Vault, and numerous other refinements.
