Nexon has recently rolled out Update 1.2.6 for The First Descendant, which introduced leaderboards and additional features. This update marks the beginning of new content promised in the February 2025 roadmap. Although many members of the TFD community have welcomed these changes, a significant number of fans of The First Descendant are displeased with an alleged “tone-down” or “nerf” to Ines Raya, which they refer to as a “significant reduction” that was not desired.
The First Descendant secret Ines Raya “nerf”
After the unveiling of Update 1.2.6, enthusiasts of The First Descendant have observed alterations in the visual aspect of Ines Raya. These modifications have sparked discussions within the community, with many referring to them as a “toning down” or “nerf,” expressing a preference for her previous appearance over the recent changes.
It’s been found out that Nexon covertly modified Ines Raya’s initial outfit on Reddit. Rather than the original dark black with a glossy sheen, Ines Raya’s default outfit now appears as a muted grey. What adds to the issue is that the default black for Ines Raya isn’t available as a dye within the game, making it impossible to recolor her skin.

The worst part about them recolour Ines’s default outfit is that her old black doesn’t exist in the game, also, why? Who ask for this?

Beyond just color variations, attentive viewers have detected a shift in Ines Raya’s physical build, specifically her hips or glutes. The gaming community has expressed concern, referring to this change as a significant reduction, with some terming it as a disappointing alteration, or “nerf,” from Nexon. However, it’s plausible that the perceived decrease in Ines Raya’s glute size is merely an optical illusion resulting from the color change and lighting adjustments.
In response to the changes on Reddit, many players are expressing dissatisfaction. Comments like, “This is a poor choice. It needs to be reversed,” and “A significant step back from the concept art” can be found. Additionally, some players have observed that it may also be the reason why her appearance seemed unusual when playing as her recently.
It’s puzzling to everyone that the recent change wasn’t an improvement over the previous design. This modification wasn’t mentioned in the 1.2.6 update notes, and there’s been no clarification from Nexon regarding their decision to switch the color. One user attempted to justify it by suggesting that the original black outfit might have lacked contrast with other skin tones, but even if that’s the explanation, most people still prefer the original appearance.
Some people are less trusting in their arguments and claim that Nexon altered the costume to prompt players into buying black dye for an appearance similar to the original shiny style, since the color itself isn’t offered as a dye option.
Despite Nexon’s motive remaining unclear, supporters are urging players to petition the developer to reverse the modification during their live stream on February 13th. It’s uncertain if Nexon will address this appeal, but we can only hope they do given their history of being adaptable and considerate towards fans.
