The Finals update 3.8.0 patch notes re-introduce a cash loss on team wipe

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into various shooters, I can confidently say that The Finals has easily climbed its way onto my list of favorites. Update 3.8.0 is yet another testament to Embark Studios’ dedication to their players and the game itself.

Title contender The Finals is currently among the top shooters, continually improving with each update. In the upcoming version 3.8.0, the developers at Embark Studios have reinstated a penalty for losing in World Tour, fixed annoying stairs in Kyoto, added enticing XP rewards, and much more.

The Finals update 3.8.0 patch notes

As a longtime fan of The Finals, I eagerly await each new patch update, especially when it comes without any changes to weapons and abilities. Being a player who values stability over constant tweaking, I appreciate the focus on fixing issues in this latest 3.8.0 patch. The added XP rewards are a welcome bonus, as they allow me to progress faster through levels and unlock new content more quickly. Additionally, the inclusion of new rewards is always exciting, as it provides an extra incentive for playing and keeps the game fresh. Overall, I’m looking forward to diving back into The Finals with this latest update!

All that glitters is not gold.. Sometimes it’s Emerald!

It’s time to ask the age-old question, Contestants – CAN YOU REACH THE FINALS?

Today marks the opening of the much-anticipated finals within the World Tour for those who have attained Gold 1 in the World Tour Badge Tier! From here, you can advance your badge level beyond Gold, all the way up to Emerald, with exclusive prizes becoming available at each new tier. In these finals, only victory in an entire World Tour tournament will earn you points – making it a tough test for our most experienced competitors to demonstrate their commitment.

We’re moving on to another destination on our World Tour, the DISSUN Challenge. This time, we’ve made some changes to the rules, such as reinstating a 10% cash penalty for team wipe. Don’t forget to participate in the DISSUN Challenge, and all of THE FINALS, with your friends or companions, because with this update, there will be extra Battle Pass XP rewards when playing together!

Revised for clarity: If you’ve achieved Gold 1 in the World Tour, remember that you now have access to the Finals section and regular World Tour is locked. Don’t worry; you can continue playing with friends while advancing your Emerald badges, regardless of your party members’ badge levels. We acknowledge that this presentation may have been unclear upon release, and we are working on improvements to make it more transparent. Rest assured, everyone continues to play the World Tour, no matter their badge level (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Emerald).

Regarding bug-fixes, here’s an update: We’ve resolved the issue causing the endless loading screen, dimmed down the excessively bright contestant selection screen, and made the previously unscalable stairs in Kyoto climbable now!

Balance Changes

Game Modes

World Tour

  • Teams now lose 10% of their cash total on team wipe
  • Dev Note: The rule changes we tested during the VOLPE Championship seem to have had positive results both with the community and in the analytics data we’ve been looking at. For our next World Tour stop, the DISSUN Challenge, we’ll keep testing this rule set, but with team wipe penalties reintroduced at 10%. This will allow us to continue to monitor how these changes impact the game. Huge thanks to everyone who provided feedback and impressions over the past two weeks!
  • Increased the number of Win Points earned for reaching the second round of a tournament from 5 to 7
  • Increased the number of Win Points earned for reaching the final of a tournament from 12 to 16
  • Increased the number of Win Points earned for winning a tournament from 20 to 26
  • Dev Note: Win Points are not accumulative. They are awarded based on where you finished in a tournament, meaning that if you win a tournament, you earn 26 points in total.
