The Finals PSA says there is “no reason” not to self-kill in Cashout anymore

As a long-time fan of The Finals, I’ve seen my fair share of updates and changes to the game. But yesterday’s update, 3.6.0, has left me feeling both excited and concerned in equal measure.

Yesterday, The Finals announced significant modifications to the game in the final update. Among these adjustments were enhancements for the 93R and alterations to Terminal Attack. However, the most noteworthy changes were made to Cashout, a popular feature among players. Although many have welcomed these updates, a notice from The Finals community asserts that “there is no justification left against self-destructing in Cashout.”

Be sure to review the significant modifications introduced in The Finals update 3.6.0, as detailed in its patch notes, which hail from Embark. Moreover, an enticing offer awaits you: purchase a bundle and acquire a stylish legendary outfit, generating Multibucks in return. Notably, the player base was taken aback upon learning that kill stealing is now prohibited according to the game’s rules of conduct.

With the latest release from Embark, there have been numerous modifications made to the game, among which is a noteworthy revision to Cashout. The majority of these updates are met with approval; however, some devoted fans of The Finals have raised concerns over an apparent oversight on the part of the developer.

The Finals Cashout PSA

In the Final’s Reddit community, user Pumpkineng posted under the title, “Important reminder: By RPGing (rolling playground) your feet when your health is low in Cashout, you can prevent someone from earning a $500 reward for eliminating you.”

In simpler terms, the post is saying that in this game, taking your own “suicidal” death doesn’t affect your team negatively by costing them money, as it used to. Now, with no consequence for doing so, there’s little incentive against suicide when facing defeat in a fight. The author suggests that the game developer should include “kill credits” for assisted suicides to rectify this oversight.

PSA: With the changes to Cashout, you can prevent somebody from getting $500 for killing you if you rpg your feet when you’re low.

Below are the changes made to Cashout in 3.6.0:

  • Increased cash awarded for kills from $200 to $500
  • ~30% of the cash in a Cashbox is now awarded to the team that deposits the Cashbox the moment it is added to the Cashout Station. The remaining ~70% of the cash in a Cashbox is awarded when the cashout is completed at the Cashout Station. These values are rounded off to give easier-to-understand values. This replaces the previous $2000 a team would receive for initiating a cashout.
  • Removed all cash loss penalties for team wipes
  • Added new notification messages to the HUD for when cash is awarded to a team
  • Increased the time taken to steal a cashout from 6s to 7s
    • Dev Note: We’ve felt for some time that Cashout generates more ‘third party’ fights than intended, as well as long-lasting team-versus-team encounters, and that happens in part because of the incentives of the scoring system. We are testing the changes above to see if they address these issues and improve the overall experience.  These changes have been selected as the ruleset for the VOLPE Championships. We’ll monitor how they perform via telemetry and your feedback and will adjust them as needed.
