This is distinct from the Legendary skin previously rumored to be given out for another community event scheduled for later on.
While the new community event reward is sweet, players can also unlock up to 500 Multibucks for free. This is equivalent to $5, and all you need to do is refer friends to The Finals.

According to the changes outlined in version 3.9.0, players of The Finals now have an opportunity to acquire up to 500 Multibucks without charge. This perk is a result of the recently implemented “invite-a-friend” feature.
According to the developer’s guidelines, “Go ahead and visit Embark ID to obtain your personal URL which can be passed on to friends who haven’t played The Finals yet. When the friend plays 20 rounds of the game, both you and your referred friend will receive 100 Multibucks each. You have the potential to earn up to 500 Multibucks as you can ‘be rewarded for up to five friends’.”
Beyond introducing the refer-a-friend program, Embark is now offering authentic game merchandise as well. The launch of this merchandise site is set for 8:30PM BST tonight, and a countdown to the event can be found on the official merchandise website itself.
