As a seasoned gamer with countless hours clocked into The Finals, I must say that this latest turn of events has been quite a rollercoaster ride! Just when we thought things were settling down after the 3.8.0 update, a hotfix was released to smoothen out some performance issues – only to introduce a new set of crashing problems.
On Wednesdays as expected, The Finals underwent an update, which turned out to be a substantial one with modifications in World Tour rules and the introduction of Emerald Rank. In light of this update, Embark has now rolled out a correction for The Finals, aimed at improving performance issues that surfaced post the launch of version 3.8.0.
Be sure to review the details of the 3.8.0 update, where you’ll find all the modifications made, including the introduction of Emerald Rank in World Tour. However, some players are disappointed with a recent store adjustment that was tweaked from beta testing. Additionally, rumors suggest a new Legendary skin will be given as a reward for an upcoming community event.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled about the recent addition of the Emerald Rank in World Tour with update 3.8.0. However, it seems that Embark, the developer, noticed some performance problems that came along with this update. They swiftly released a hotfix today to address these issues, but it appears that this quick fix has unintentionally led to an increase in game crashes for many players like myself.
The Finals update 3.8.0 hotfix
In the chat on the Finals Discord platform, Embark Oscar posted an update at 8:44 AM British Summer Time (BST) on August 9th regarding a fresh fix following the launch of version 3.8:
In the version 3.8 update, there was a noticeable drop in game performance, particularly affecting network and bandwidth. The problem stemmed from a fix on collision issues, which unintentionally increased the amount of data being sent over the network. This overshoot resulted in poor server performance and a less enjoyable network experience overall.
“We’ve just rolled out an update on all our platforms, fixing the problem at hand. This means that your overall experience will be more seamless and there will be fewer interruptions due to network issues once you’ve applied the update.”
Shortly after the deployment of the fix, Embark Oscar shared a message within an hour:
It appears that the game is frequently crashing upon launch following our recent update. If you’re encountering this problem, kindly visit our bug report forum for more information:
And add the following there in a message;
- Image of the issue or the text inside the error box
- What platform you play on
- Your player ID
- What steps you have taken to solve it (restart game / steam / PC / verify game files, etc).
I’ll keep you all in the loop as we investigate.”
As of writing, there has been no update on the situation.
