Last week saw an exciting turn of events for The Finals, with the rollout of update 5.9.0. This particular patch brought about some weapon enhancements and adjustments, but it was swiftly overshadowed by the highly anticipated debut of Team Deathmatch. The introduction of TDM is undeniably thrilling, yet fans will be equally exhilarated to learn that The Finals’ most reviled overpowered gadget is finally due for an overhaul.
The Finals devs confirm incoming rework for the stun gun
In The Finals update 5.8.0 patch notes, Embark confirmed an incoming rework for the stun gun:
We’ve clearly received your message: it’s time to enhance our trusty Stun Gun! We have some exciting ideas for improving this device, and we’ll be sharing details about these plans in Update 5.10.0.

It seems that the revision for the stun gun is expected in Update 5.10.0. Additionally, we’ll gain insights into other plans from Embark as well.
The update version 5.10.0 is expected to release on the 19th of February, coinciding with Embark’s AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit with the community. This event will happen at 9AM Pacific Time/12PM Eastern Time/5PM Greenwich Mean Time and will last for a span of two hours.
It’s wonderful to hear that the stun gun used by the Light class will be reworked! For a long time, many players, both Medium and Heavy, have expressed frustration about its overpowered nature and lack of enjoyment when facing it in gameplay. On multiple occasions, there have even been suggestions for its removal altogether. The fact that this gadget is finally getting an update is fantastic news indeed!
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel excited about the potential changes coming to Embark, even though we don’t have all the details yet. The community, particularly on Reddit, has been brainstorming some intriguing ideas for this rework. Two of my favorite suggestions are:
1. Instead of the current instant charge, there would be a 1-second charge-up period with an audible cue to signal when it’s ready to use. This would make it fairer and more predictable for everyone involved in gameplay.
2. Another suggestion is that during the charge-up phase, players won’t be able to sprint. This could add a layer of strategy to the game, as players would need to carefully decide when to move quickly and when to charge up their abilities.

Luckily, the update for improving the stun gun shouldn’t take much more time. It’s hoped that the modifications suggested by Embark will strike a good balance, making the device less overpowered yet still effective for the Light community.
