The Electric State Viewership Disappoints, Likely Won’t Enter Netflix All-Time Top 10

Netflix has released the viewership for The Electric State, and the numbers are disappointing.

What was The Electric State’s viewership?

On March 14, The Electric State made its premiere and immediately ranked No. 1 on the Global Top 10 chart with an impressive 25.2 million views in its first weekend on the streaming platform. However, considering that The Electric State is a high-budget production ($320 million) directed by the team behind Avengers: Endgame, these initial viewer numbers might not bode well, particularly if Netflix had aspirations to establish a franchise from this movie.

Even though “The Electric State” has garnered 25.2 million views so far, it’s looking unlikely to break into Netflix’s all-time Top 10 list. Red Notice currently holds the record for the biggest debut of a Netflix original with 75.6 million views during its opening weekend. Unfortunately, The Electric State’s opening weekend viewership also falls short compared to other successful Netflix productions like The Adam Project (51.8 million), Back in Action (46.8 million), Don’t Look Up (46.6 million), Carry-On (42 million), The Gray Man (41.2 million), Damsel (35.3 million), Atlas (28.2 million), and A Family Affair (26.8 million).

In a futuristic setting, the movie Electric State features Millie Bobby Brown as Michelle, a teenager who lost her family and believes that her late brother is operating a robot named Cosmo (Alan Tudyk). Joined by Chris Pratt’s character, a smuggler known as Keats, Michelle sets off on a cross-country adventure through the United States in search of her brother.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the game I’m currently immersed in, titled “The Electric State,” boasts an impressive lineup of stars. Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Giancarlo Esposito, Stanley Tucci, and Woody Norman bring their talent to the screen. The voice cast is equally captivating with Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson, Brian Cox, and Jenny Slate lending their voices.

The film “The Electric State” was crafted by directors Anthony and Joe Russo, working from a script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. This science fiction movie is an adaptation of the novel written by Simon Stålenhag. Unfortunately, “The Electric State” has received mostly negative reviews, with a rating of 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and 29 on Metacritic.
