The Continental: John Wick Spin-off’s Season 2 Gets Update From Producer

As a dedicated John Wick fan who’s been following this franchise since its inception, I must say that the news of The Continental Season 2 being put on hold is bittersweet. On one hand, it’s exciting to see the universe expanding with projects like John Wick: Under the High Table and Ballerina. But on the other, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for the 70s setting and vibe of The Continental.

After more than a year since “The Continental: From the World of John Wick” concluded, we now have news about Season 2. In discussions regarding the future of the John Wick franchise on television, producer Basil Iwanyk has shared his thoughts on the potential for “The Continental’s” second season prequel.

Basil Iwanyk talks The Continental Season 2 possibilities within the John Wick universe

In celebration of John Wick’s 10th anniversary, Iwanyk has revealed early discussions regarding The Continual’s second season. Yet, it should be noted that the primary focus at this time is on projects aimed at broadening the existing John Wick universe set in the present day.

While talking to The Direct‘s Russ Milheim, Iwanyk said:

We seemed satisfied with season one. We’ve discussed season two a bit, but it seems like, if we want to air something related to the John Wick universe on television, the Robert Levine version we ended with, which we’re currently in talks about, might be the superior choice for John Wick-related content in the TV sphere.

He continued:

As a devoted admirer, let me express my enthusiasm: “Indeed, I took immense pleasure in crafting ‘The Continental’. The 70s setting was captivating, and Albert Hughes was an inspiration. Everything about it was remarkable. It struck me as an ingenious, audacious concept. Now, we aim to create a project that will shed light on the franchise’s future direction.

During the 1970s, the series “The Continental” introduced us to the character Winston Scott, portrayed by Colin Woodell. However, according to Iwanyk’s statement, fans might want to anticipate different projects rather than a second season of “The Continental.

Among these offshoots are the John Wick: Under the High Table series and Ana de Armas’ Ballerina film. Though the conclusion of John Wick 4 has been shown, there’s still a great deal of excitement among fans for Chapter 5. However, it remains unclear if Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski will collaborate again in the future.
