What happens in The Conjuring: Last Rites trailer?
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about the latest trailer for “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” Five years after the events of “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” we find ourselves rejoining Ed and Lorraine Warren, who had initially hung up their paranormal investigation boots. However, fate seems to have other plans as they are drawn back into the fray for one last mission.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I’d like to share some intriguing insights about an extraordinary event known as the Smurl family haunting that unfolded in the state of Pennsylvania. This chilling tale features an exceptional cast, with Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, Tilly Walker, Molly Cartwright, Peter Wight, and Kate Fahy all lending their talents to bring the Smurl family to life on screen.
Producer Peter Safran told Entertainment Weekly that one of the reasons for their choice was because it’s a case that can easily be researched online. It made sense for them as they could capitalize on the curiosity of audiences, who might look up details like ‘How many children did they actually have?’ or ‘Were the grandparents really part of the story?’ and so on. Such discoveries have always held significance to them.
In the upcoming movie, Mia Tomlinson takes on the role of an older Judy, who is the child of Ed and Lorraine. Previously, Sterling Jerins played Judy in the primary Conjuring series, while McKenna Grace portrayed her character in 2019’s Annabelle Comes Home.
Chaves expressed that this version of Judy offers a fresh perspective compared to previous portrayals. He believes it provides a more engaging and authentic glimpse into the experience of growing up as the daughter of the Warrens, especially considering their home was filled with artifacts tainted by demonic entities. It raises questions about the challenges faced, the personal impact, and how such an environment might shape one’s life.
In U.S. theaters on September 5, 2025, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” – a new film brought to you by Warner Bros. Pictures.
