As a long-time fan of Studio Ghibli and the magical worlds created by Hayao Miyazaki, I am beyond excited to finally have a release date for “The Boy and The Heron.” This latest masterpiece from the legendary director has been highly anticipated, and the news of its upcoming streaming debut on Max is music to my ears.

I’m thrilled to share that Warner Bros. has officially revealed the release date for “The Boy and The Heron,” the latest Oscar-winning animated masterpiece by Studio Ghibli and director Hayao Miyazaki, which is coming soon to streaming platforms. This announcement follows the recent extension of Max’s long-term partnership with the renowned Japanese animation studio.

“Following the tragic passing of his mother in a hospital fire, 12-year-old Mahito relocates to the rural family estate. Here, he encounters a string of enigmatic occurrences that lead him to an isolated, ancient tower. Residing within is a playful gray heron. As Mahito’s cruel stepmother goes missing, he follows the bird into the tower and uncovers a wondrous realm where the living and deceased coexist. Joined by the heron as his enigmatic companion, Mahito embarks on an adventure to unlock the secrets of this otherworldly place and the truth about himself.”
