Max has officially announced the title for its upcoming Stuart spin-off series based on The Big Bang Theory, tentatively titled “Stuart’s Next Chapter”. This series will see the return of Kevin Sussman (known from Ugly Betty) as Stuart Bloom. At this point, the project is yet to secure an official series order.
What is the title of The Big Bang Theory Stuart spin-off show?
Titled “Stuart’s Unsuccessful Cosmic Quest,” this new spin-off continues the tale of Stuart Bloom, a character we met in the second season of the original CBS series as a shy comic book store owner with an unusual knack for cosmic adventures.
In addition to Stuart Sussman’s character, Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie will be back in the new series. They will continue playing their characters Caltech professor Bert Kibbler, Stuart’s girlfriend Denise, and Barry Kripke respectively. Although the spin-off is being worked on, official casting for these actors hasn’t been confirmed yet.
This project is created and overseen by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, with Warner Bros. Television acting as the producer. If it receives a formal series order from Max, it would be the third spin-off of this franchise, following the success of Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The latter has already been renewed for a second season on CBS.
The classic TV sitcom ran on CBS for an impressive twelve seasons, airing a total of 279 episodes between 2007 and 2019. Starring Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard, Kunal Nayyar as Raj, Mayim Bialik as Amy, and Melissa Rauch as Bernadette, this show was a consistent Emmy Awards winner. Among its numerous accolades were the Outstanding Comedy Series award and the Outstanding Lead Actor honor for Parsons’ exceptional portrayal.
