As a seasoned Warframe veteran with countless hours spent navigating the digital battlefields of Tarsis, I can confidently say that Caliban has proven to be a game-changer after the recent Koumei and Five Fates update. With his versatile kit and enhanced abilities, he’s become my new go-to Frame for those days when I feel like unleashing some chaos while keeping my shields up.
As a gamer, I’ve gotta say, I’m super stoked about the revamp Caliban got with the Koumei and the Five Fates update in Warframe! Although his kit didn’t undergo a drastic overhaul, the changes made him significantly more powerful and nudged him closer to the top-tier Frames. It’s clear that he’s now a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield!
The best Caliban build in Warframe
It’s clear that Caliban has found an excellent spot post-rework. His passive functionally serves as a slightly less potent, yet free alternative to Adaptation, offering up to 50% damage reduction from various sources over time. This means we can forego using the Adaptation mod. Additionally, he’s capable of inflicting a new damage type known as Tau, which makes enemies more susceptible to status effect procs.
As a devoted enthusiast of this versatile character, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time with him. His kit is a marvel, offering a multitude of functions. With his first ability, he can both heal and bolster overshields. The second ability grants crowd control and increases damage vulnerability, while the third does extra damage and restores shields. And let’s not forget his fourth ability, which strips nearly full armor from opponents with ease. This diverse set of skills has been a blast to utilize within the context of weapon platform builds in the game.
In my gameplay setup, I’ve been favoring a defense-focused character configuration, reinforced by a Vulpaphyla to trigger Viral effects. This arrangement leaves room for increased damage output and additional status options on my weapons. To further optimize the build, I replaced the initial ability with Nourish, which enables the ranged form of Ortholoyst’s third ability to inflict both Viral and Tau effects. Moreover, Nourish contributes to better energy management, a crucial aspect for this particular strategy.
Initially, the spells can be costly to use, but we aim to utilize them frequently to replenish energy into our barriers and boost our defensive capabilities.
So, let’s take a look at the mods I have opted for.
Mod | Effect |
---|---|
Brief Respite/Growing Power | While Brief Respite is central to my build, I do want to point out that you can, if you wish, switch to Growing Power and rely on Augur Reach to bring back shields, although it is far less effective. |
Primed/Sure Footed | I think this has become a must-have for almost any build, as nobody likes getting knocked down. |
Umbral Vitality | Improved ability strength. Will get a little boost from the next Umbral mod. |
Umbral Intensify | Improved ability strength that is given a boost by the previous Umbral mod. |
Fast Deflection | Improved shield values and much faster shield recharge. |
Primed Continuity | Improved ability duration. |
Blind Rage | More ability strength at the cost of some efficiency. This is really the only way to get a large bump to ability strength after your choice of Intensify mod, which is why this build goes to great lengths to pull back energy wherever possible and get shield benefits when we do use it. |
Equilibrium | This is one of the best energy economy mods in the game. |
Stretch/Augur Reach | Go for Stretch if you want the extra range, and go for Augur Reach if you are willing to give up a little range for improved energy conversion to shields, as this stacks with Brief Respite. |
Rolling Guard | When you roll, you get a free Invulnerability, which removes all status effects. Has a 7-second cooldown. This tends to be my “oops, I messed up” option at higher difficulty levels. |
Apart from my usual routine, I’ve gone ahead and collected a complete set of blue Archon shards, quite an unusual occurrence for me. Two of these shards are boosting my shield strength, while another pair is enhancing my energy levels. To top it off, I’ve chosen one yellow shard to enhance the effectiveness of my energy orbs. This setup might evolve as time goes by, but for now, none of them have been Tauforged since I’m still undecided about whether Caliban will become a permanent fixture in my late-game lineup.
Ultimately, I’ve chosen Arcane Aegis and Molt Augmented for Arcanes. Arcane Aegis assists in fortifying my defensive shield capabilities, while Molt Augmented gradually amplifies my ability potency.
