The Batman Part II Writer Praises Matt Reeves, Shares Exciting Update on Sequel

As a seasoned gamer and ardent follower of the DC Universe, I must say that the news about The Batman Part II sets my heart racing! Five years have passed since we last saw the Dark Knight on the big screen, and it feels like an eternity. The first film was a gripping, gritty take on the Caped Crusader, and I’m eager to delve deeper into this intriguing world that director Matt Reeves has crafted.

The Batman Sequel

Next year, we’ll be filming the sequel to the original. We’re preparing intensely for it, and let me tell you, expectations are sky-high. As Tomlin shared with Screen Rant, the bar has never been higher.

Apart from being unique in his own right, Matt Reeves has been a remarkable mentor over the past five years. I’ve strived to learn as much as I can from him, and cherish every moment we share together because he is an artist who creates amidst a world where art sometimes struggles to thrive. His aim is to create something meaningful, and being part of this journey has been an incredible experience. I am excited about the upcoming movie!

What to Expect in The Batman Part II?

Details about most parts of The Batman Sequel’s storyline remain undisclosed. Principal photography is set to commence in England during the year 2025.

For “The Batman Part II,” only Robert Pattinson, reprising his roles as Bruce Wayne/Batman, has been confirmed to return. In the first film, Bruce Wayne serves as the masked vigilante for two years, working tirelessly to eradicate corruption. As new criminal empires emerge, Batman encounters his most formidable adversary yet – a serial killer infamously known as The Riddler.

In addition to Robert Pattinson, The Batman features Zoë Kravitz playing Selina Kyle (Catwoman), Paul Dano portraying The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon from the GCPD, John Turturro in the role of Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, District Attorney of Gotham, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Ferrell as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot (Penguin).

Back in March 2022, I was thrilled to witness the box office success of “The Batman,” which raked in an impressive $772 million against a production budget of roughly $185-$200 million. Now, get ready for some more excitement! On September 19, 2024, we’ll be diving deeper into the Gotham underworld with “The Penguin,” a spinoff series featuring our beloved Ferrell as Oz. Can’t wait!

The Batman Part II is set to be released on October 2, 2026.
