Focus Features recently unveiled the trailer for their upcoming comedy film titled “The Ballad of Wallis Island“, which features Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan in the lead role. The movie is set to have its world debut later this month at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Following its premiere, it will hit theaters on Friday, March 28th.
The movie is about Charles, a quirky lottery victor residing secluded on a far-off island, yearning for the reunion of his beloved band Mortimer-McGwyer. As per the plot summary, his wish comes true when the band members and ex-lovers agree to perform a private concert at his Wallis Island residence. However, as Charles strives hard to preserve this dream performance, past conflicts reemerge.

Who is in The Ballad of Wallis Island trailer?
In the video, Mulligan portrays a musician stranded on an island alongside her former partner, following an invitation from a well-off admirer. Alongside Mulligan, you’ll find Tom Basden, Tim Key, Sian Clifford, and Akemnji Ndifornyen as fellow cast members.
Wallis Island’s Ballad” is helmed by James Griffiths as both director and producer. The script was penned by Tom Basden (known for “Plebs”) and Tim Key (“See How They Run”). Mulligan, along with Basden, Key, Sian Clifford (“Fleabag”), and Akemnji Ndifornyen (“The Queen’s Gambit”), will grace the screen. The movie is overseen by executive producers Mulligan, Key, Basden, Sarah Monteith, Laurence Brown, Stephen Kelliher, and Yana Georgieva, while Rupert Majendie serves as producer.
