What is The Babadook about?
In this critically acclaimed movie, we find ourselves following Amelia, a devoted mother, who, despite the passage of time, continues to grapple with her husband’s death. Additionally, she finds herself dealing with her stepson’s fear of a monster, an encounter she will soon experience personally.
As an ardent movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement over the stellar cast of “The Babadook.” This chilling tale features Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Hayley McElhinney, Daniel Henshall, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear. If you’re intrigued, here’s a glimpse into the film’s official synopsis:
Six years following her husband’s tragic demise, Amelia (Davis) finds herself at a crossroads. She grapples with managing her unruly 6-year-old, Samuel (Wiseman), whom she finds difficult to affectionately connect with. In his dreams, Samuel sees a terrifying monster that he believes is set to claim their lives. Upon the arrival of a disquieting storybook titled ‘The Babadook’ at their residence, Samuel becomes convinced that this creature from his nightmares is real. His hallucinations escalate, causing him to behave erratically and aggressively. Amelia, genuinely alarmed by her son’s conduct, feels compelled to medicate him. However, as she starts perceiving eerie manifestations everywhere, it gradually becomes clear to her that the creature Samuel has been warning about might indeed be tangible.
The Babadook returns to theaters beginning on September 19.
