Update: As preparations for this year’s celebration of the Air Jordan 1 reaching its 40th anniversary were underway, there were numerous rumors about upcoming launches that left us guessing which ones would actually materialize. Several of these leaked shoes have surfaced, with a sneak peek at the re-release of the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” having been revealed recently. Ten years after its initial release, Jordan Brand has remained faithful to this popular colorway as its black, off-white, and orange color scheme remains untouched. It is expected to once again feature premium leather and its thematic sockliner, connecting the sneaker to the iconic moment we discussed in our previous conversation below. The release date is now set for July 12 through Nike SNKRS and selected retailers, with a starting price of $180 USD.

Next year, I’m hyped! It’s going to be the 40th anniversary of the iconic Air Jordan 1, and it looks like we’re in for a massive drop of new releases that will blow our minds. The rumor mill is churning out all sorts of exciting possibilities for 2025, from the classic “Bred” Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 to a mind-blowing collaboration with Swarovski and a fresh take on the “UNC” colorway. Can’t wait to see what they come up with!
The fashion insider SoleSavy has revealed that the iconic “Shattered Backboard” style from 2015 will be coming back next year. This design, depicted above, was inspired by Michael Jordan’s famous dunk that shattered a backboard in 1985. Over the years, the color scheme of “Black,” “Starfish,” and “Sail” has been reimagined numerous times, with its most recent appearance on the Nike BOOK 1 as a special edition. The upcoming release not only celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, but also marks the 10th anniversary since the initial launch of the “Shattered Backboard.” It is expected to retain its original features, such as an all-leather upper.
As I write this, Jordan Brand has not yet confirmed whether the “Shattered Backboard” edition of the Air Jordan 1 High OG will make a comeback. Keep an eye out for updates, including a sneak peek at the upcoming 2025 colorway design, which is anticipated to be available through Nike SNKRS and selected retailers sometime in 2025. The estimated price point is around $180 USD.
