She admitted it didn’t come as a surprise to her because ever since the show was just a concept, there has been a wave of intense backlash and vitriol from what seems like hyper-conservative bigots. This hateful language and prejudice towards them began even before anyone had seen the show.

The actress additionally shared that the subsequent criticism significantly impacted her, as reported by Variety. “It was particularly challenging when I first landed the role,” the 25-year-old performer commented. “The impact of such events isn’t fully comprehendible until you experience it yourself.” However, Stenberg still showed appreciation for being cast in The Acolyte. Furthermore, she expressed gratitude to all those who backed the show amid its challenging phase, stating that their support made the entire journey meaningful for her.
