As a gamer with over two decades of binge-watching emergency response dramas under my belt, I must admit, the latest twist in “911: Lone Star” has me both intrigued and slightly worried. The departure of Sierra McClain as Grace and the rumored resignation of Judd (Jim Parrick) from the 126 left a void that now seems to be filled by none other than Wyatt, played by Jackson Pace.
Earlier this year, we received unfortunate news. Sierra McClain will not reprise her role as Grace in 911: Lone Star for season 5. This vacancy presents an opportunity for the dispatcher storyline to unfold. The initial trailer for the upcoming season has been released, offering glimpses of potential new characters we’ll see.
It turns out that the report about Jim Parrick not returning wasn’t accurate – instead, Judd resigned from the 126 to care for his son Wyatt. This means there’s a chance we might see more of Jim in the series after all.
Indeed, he’s not the new dispatcher. However, you might recognize the new dispatcher as Wyatt, portrayed by Jackson Pace, who will soon be joining the dispatch team.

The promotion provides a sneak peek into the upcoming season, showcased through a slightly blurry clip shared on social media. This footage was taken secretly by someone who recorded it while watching TV. It clearly shows Wyatt working behind the desk, assisting people during their crisis moments.
Initially, Wyatt aspired to become a firefighter, much like his father. However, an unfortunate motorcycle accident resulted in paralysis for him. Despite therapy efforts, there was optimism that he might regain some mobility, but it became clear that he wouldn’t recover enough to fulfill his dream of following in his dad’s footsteps as a firefighter.
As a seasoned professional with years of experience under my belt, I’ve learned that there is often more than one path to success. In this particular case, I believe that the individual can indeed contribute in another way. It seems to me that he has the potential to forge his own unique journey by following in his stepmom’s footsteps, but not as a carbon copy – rather, by learning from her experiences and carving out a path that is tailored to his own skills, passions, and aspirations. After all, life isn’t about replicating the past; it’s about building on it and creating something new and meaningful for ourselves.
What’s going on with Grace and Judd?
Indeed, the news that Wyatt will assume the role of dispatcher has sparked discussions about Grace and Judd once more. When we heard Judd was stepping down from Firehouse 126, it appeared as though Patrick might also be departing the show. This scenario would have led us to assume that Grace and Judd were content in their off-screen relationship while supporting Wyatt.
It seems that Judd might be available, whereas Grace may not be present. Is it possible that Grace is temporarily absent to assist other family members, while Judd takes care of Wyatt? Or could it be that Judd’s resignation has caused Grace to leave him? We sincerely hope the latter isn’t true, but it does raise some concerns.
As a gamer, I’m excited that the new dispatcher isn’t going to feel too out of place. It’s intriguing to imagine Wyatt, despite his challenges, discovering purpose in life. However, let’s face it, he might not be quite as skilled as Grace was!
911: Lone Star season 5 premieres on Monday, Sept. 23 on Fox.
