Thalapathy Vijay pays his final respects to Goundamani’s wife Shanti, who passed away due to illness

On May 5, 2025, the wife of longtime Tamil comedian Goundamani, Shanti, passed away. As the movie industry shared their grief with the actor, Thalapathy Vijay personally paid his respects and expressed his condolences to the family.

Two days ago, Goundamani’s wife, Shanti, was taken to a hospital due to a health issue she had been experiencing. Tragically, it was announced on Monday morning that she had passed away, leaving behind her husband and their two daughters.

Prior to Thalapathy Vijay, the longtime friend and veteran actor Goundamani’s fellow comedian, Senthil, also visited to express his condolences. Additionally, Sathyaraj addressed the press, affectionately referring to the departed as a sister figure to him.

In case you’re not familiar, Goundamani is a well-known comedian in Tamil films who began his acting career in the 1960s. Over time, this actor, his physical comedy style, and his frequent co-star Senthil have become essential elements of Tamil pop culture.

Moving on to Thalapathy Vijay’s career, the leading man recently appeared in The Greatest Of All Time, often abbreviated as GOAT. This movie, helmed by Venkat Prabhu, was an action-drama that showcased Vijay in two distinct roles.

In a unique narrative, the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) recounts the story of Mahatma Gandhi, a previous head of a clandestine anti-violence group who executed undercover operations. During one such operation, he tragically loses his son, believing him to be deceased; however, decades later, the son miraculously reappears, revealing himself to be far more than just an ordinary person.

In the film, Vijay played both the main characters, while Prasanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, and several others filled crucial roles. Moving forward, you can expect to see this prominent actor in the upcoming movie titled “Jana Nayagan”.

The upcoming movie due out in January 2026 is being called a political action drama, starring Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol as the main characters. This film is reportedly Mr. Deol’s last acting project before he focuses on his political career.
