Tesla (TSLA) will launch unsupervised FSD in Austin in June

For some time now, Tesla Inc. has harbored grand aspirations for autonomous vehicles and its Full-Self Driving (FSD) service. It appears that the next major phase of this venture is on the horizon, as announced during the Q4 2024 earnings results conference call. In June 2025, Elon Musk unveiled plans to debut the FSD subscription service with autonomous vehicles requiring no human supervision in Austin. Additionally, he stated that FSD will be rolled out across most US regions by the end of 2025.

During a Tesla Q4 2024 earnings conference call, Elon Musk emphasized several times that they anticipate launching their Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in Austin, Texas by June 2025. This will mark the first time FSD is rolled out in any region of Texas and will include a subscription service option for users to join at a set fee. FSD has been refined and tested in beta versions across multiple regions previously.

In Austin, Texas, the unveiling of Full Self-Driving (FSD) service for Tesla cars occurred not long after several self-driving technology demonstrations by Tesla, such as the introduction of Robovan and Cybercab in October 2024. The company has been pouring substantial resources into creating autonomous vehicles without human supervision and is steadily advancing FSD to a level where it can be utilized securely on a broader scale.

Elon Musk’s prediction that Full Self-Driving (FSD) will be available in Austin by June appears plausible, but it remains uncertain if the company can meet his assertion of a nationwide rollout by year-end.
