As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must admit that I approached Darling with high expectations, given its intriguing plotline and promising cast. However, much like an RPG game with a captivating premise but clunky mechanics, the film failed to deliver in its execution, particularly during the first half.

In July 2024, the Telugu romantic comedy-drama “Darling” made its big screen debut, receiving both praise and criticism from both critics and viewers. Starting from next week, this film will be available on digital platforms, aiming to broaden its viewership.

Under the direction of Aswin Raam, the film “Darling” features Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh as its principal actors. Furthermore, the ensemble cast includes Ananya Nagalla, Brahmanandam, Moin, Shiva Reddy, Muralidhar Goud, Sunitha Manohar, Mullapudi Rajeshwari, Abhignya, Jeevan, Krishna Teja, and several others.

The beloved protagonist is a man with a heartfelt desire to wed the perfect woman and whisk her away to Paris for their romantic getaway. Firmly committed to making this vision come true, he refuses to obtain a passport until he’s married. Yet, upon discovering his soulmate, he encounters an unforeseen predicament: his spouse grapples with dissociative identity disorder, causing her to house multiple personalities within one body. Each of these unique personas comes equipped with its own identity, past, and traits, resulting in a myriad of issues in their relationship and the protagonist’s life.

When is Darling movie coming out for OTT?

Disney Plus Hotstar Telugu has shared that the movie “Darling” will begin streaming from August 13. The post on social media says, “Get ready for a MADMAX Wedding Comedy! Stream Darling on DisneyPlusHotstar from August 13.” Keep in mind that this film will only be available in its original Telugu language; there are no plans for dubbed versions at the moment. While the exact streaming time hasn’t been confirmed, fans can anticipate the movie to be accessible around midnight on August 12.

Although boasting a talented cast and promising plotline, Darling fell short of meeting audience anticipation, particularly in its initial segment. One spectator voiced their dissatisfaction, commenting, “The first half started slowly, with an excessive amount of lull periods. The second half followed suit, mirroring a downward trend prior to the climax. Overall, the film was a poor use of time with illogical scenes. The heroine’s dubbing wasn’t satisfactory. I would rate the movie 2/5 solely for Priyadarshi’s acting.”
