Ted Lasso Season 4 Update From Brett Goldstein Hints at Release Date Window

With Apple TV+ giving the go-ahead for Season 4 of their successful sports comedy-drama “Ted Lasso,” writer and actor Brett Goldstein has expressed his thoughts on the renewal. Premiering in August 2020, the Jason Sudeikis-led show chronicled the story of the title character, who was unexpectedly given the chance to coach a soccer team in the English Premier League. Despite knowing little about the sport’s tactics, he used his unwavering optimism to try and find his way in his new role. With Season 4 now confirmed, Goldstein, who portrays Kent on Ted Lasso, has offered an encouraging update, while also drawing comparisons to a peculiar tale from his past.

Brett Goldstein gives Ted Lasso Season 4 update, compares it to a dead cat

During our latest chat, the Shrinking Star mentioned that the writers for Ted Lasso’s Season 4 are currently working on it, using an analogy to express this by saying it’s similar to resurrecting a long-lost pet.

In a recent episode of the Wild Card podcast, Brett Goldstein shared a touching story about a college friend who sadly lost his cherished cat in an accident. The heartbroken friend chose to lay the pet to rest in his garden and fervently prayed for its return. However, as the actor/writer clarified, it was not their beloved cat that returned; they had mistakenly buried another one.

After hearing about the unexpected turn of events, I found myself comparing it to learning that Apple decided to extend Ted Lasso for a fourth season, initially planned to wrap up after just three. In essence, I feel like a fan who exclaims, “But we thought it was over! We mourned, had our goodbyes. Now you’re telling me there’s more? It seems too good to be true.” It’s almost as if they have too much control.

The actor who portrays Roy Kent has revealed that writers are working on ideas for the upcoming fourth season. Previously, it was speculated that filming for Ted Lasso Season 4 would start in July of this year. Therefore, if everything goes according to plan, the series might return sometime during the last half of 2026.

In Ted Lasso Season 4, Jason Sudeikis’ character will face a new coaching endeavor as he guides a women’s soccer team. Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift are expected to return to their respective roles. Although there is much excitement about the upcoming season, Apple TV+ has not yet revealed the specific release date for Season 4.
