Is it true that Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen collaborated for a duet, as a response to Donald Trump‘s criticism? A popular Facebook post suggested the two prominent musicians stood together in protest following the President’s remarks on Truth Social. The rumor spread rapidly, with images and captions hinting at an impactful joint performance.
Let’s take a look at the current information regarding the rumored event, online speculations, and the actual occurrence instead.
Did Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen perform together?
To clarify, neither Taylor Swift nor Bruce Springsteen collaborated on a duet or appeared together on stage as a reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump.
The idea that they acted against Trump’s Truth Social criticisms is untrue; such assertions were initially spread through popular Facebook pages like Rock N’ Roll Mania and Rock & Roll Universe.
The posts, shared around May 20, 2025, featured AI-generated images and misleading captions that implied a joint performance by Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen. However, Snopes, a fact-checking website, disproved this claim on May 21, confirming that the two artists did not collaborate for a show. The photographs used in these posts were taken from different events: Taylor Swift’s concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina, held in November 2023, and Bruce Springsteen’s performances in November 2022 and April 2023.
The sites linked with newsanchor360 and karkpost didn’t offer any genuine duet video footage. Instead, they directed users towards irrelevant ads and recycled old content. One clip claimed to be from a performance but actually showed Taylor Swift performing Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” at a previous concert, which was misleading.
On the 14th and 17th of May, 2025, during his shows in Manchester, Springsteen criticized Trump, labeling the administration as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.” Trump retaliated on Truth Social on the 16th and 19th, branding Springsteen as a “pushy, obnoxious” individual and making derogatory comments about his appearance. Similarly, he expressed disdain for Taylor Swift, stating “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,” and made fun of her physical appearance. (According to Vanity Fair)
On May 16th, the American Federation of Musicians publicly endorsed both Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen, lauding them as “inspirational role models.” However, to date, there’s been no confirmed joint performance between these two artists.
