Santhanam’s latest movie, DD Next Level, has been generating a lot of buzz in the media. This Tamil horror-comedy is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on May 16th, and there’s been plenty of activity related to its promotion.
As the release date approaches in just two days, both the movie and its star find themselves embroiled in a fresh controversy. This time, it’s due to the inclusion of the devotional song “Srinivasa Govinda” in one of the film’s tracks titled “Kissa 47,” which has stirred up some strong reactions.
A leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the TTD (Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams), Bhanuprakash Reddy, along with another individual, has strongly criticized the integration of a revered devotional tune into an entirely western-style musical composition.
Although the track was previously requested to be deleted from both the movie and online platforms, the political figure is additionally asking for a 100-crore rupee compensation if the producers fail to comply with these requests.
The political figure emphasized that the song’s words seem disrespectful to Hindus and could possibly lead to unrest, thus promoting discord within society.
Furthermore, Santhanam and Niharika Entertainments were additionally subjected to a defamation lawsuit. Additionally, they received a request to promptly remove the contested musical segment from the movie’s soundtrack.
For those unfamiliar, the traditional devotional song “Srinivasa Govinda Sri Venkatesa Govinda” has been reimagined as a rap track in Kissa 47, which has sparked a fair amount of debate among listeners.
