In our exploration of Tallula Christie’s household during the festive season, TopMob meets up with Habitat again for episode 2 of Creative Alcoves. Fresh from gaining exclusive information about some of his signature items in Essentials, we now embark on a temporal and spatial tour guided by co-founder Armand Da Silva.
Stepping into the southeast London atelier, you’re immediately enveloped by a sense of nostalgia, thanks to the antique monitors displaying Akira and the futuristic furniture and homeware accessories. As Da Silva puts it, time&space specializes in collecting iconic items from the ’60s, ’70s, and sometimes even venturing into the 2000s. When they arrange these pieces, they create a harmonious blend of styles and eras.
In addition to scheduling individual appointments, Time & Space also organizes a variety of themed gatherings, such as movie nights and design-centric parties. The aim is to unite our community, providing opportunities for people to explore, interact with, and gain knowledge about design. When asked about its purpose, he explains that it’s all about bringing the community together and offering diverse experiences related to design. Interestingly, while furniture serves as the main entrance point for many, Time & Space takes pride in preserving a wide array of vintage items, literature, and memorabilia encompassing the entire spectrum of contemporary culture, ensuring there’s something here that will captivate everyone.
Exploring his distinctive works, some of which he elaborated on in his prior article, Da Silva clarifies that the studio’s services extend beyond merely renting furniture for photo-shoots and events. They additionally provide a consultation service, where they scour the globe to find suitable pieces for their clients.
This Spring/Summer 2025 collection, inspired by Habitat’s influential past in modernizing British interiors, draws upon its vast archive to revitalize classic homeware items. The design ethos of the brand’s history is celebrated in this latest release, with timeless pieces that blend effortlessly into various settings. Reminiscent of mid-century aesthetics, the Dawson Chair and minimalist Yuno Lamp are ideal additions for a thoughtfully designed interior.
