Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, has just given an updated glimpse into the progress of the Taika Waititi-directed Star Wars film, a project that’s been in the works for over four years now.

In a recent interview, Kennedy openly shared her optimism regarding the Taika Waititi Star Wars film’s progression. She mentioned that there’s no pressure on Waititi to complete the project quickly because they trust his artistic methods and vision.
Taika is operating according to his own schedule… I’ve been telling him, ‘When you feel confident and can fully commit your time, we’ll proceed,’ she said. ‘We’re ready whenever you are… I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll eventually make it happen. It would be an exceptional addition to the Star Wars series.’
Besides this, Kennedy also verified that Tony McNamara has officially joined the team to write the screenplay for the project, with Waititi. McNamara is particularly recognized for his exceptional work on films like The Favourite, Cruella, and Poor Things. At present, further specifics about the plot and characters of the upcoming Star Wars movie directed by Taika Waititi are being kept confidential.
Right now, Taika Waititi is busy with Sony Pictures’ upcoming film version of Klara and the Sun, a dystopian sci-fi novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. This movie will be headlined by Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Natasha Lyonne, and Steve Buscemi. Additionally, he’s also involved in creating and writing another horror comedy film titled We’re Wolves, in collaboration with What We Do in the Shadows partner Jemaine Clement.
