SZA Reveals What X-Men Character She Wants to Play in MCU

SZA knows which MCU character she’d ideally like to be cast as.

In more casual terms: Solána Imani Rowe, famously known as SZA, is a skilled rapper and performer who recently made her acting debut in the 2025 film “One of Them Days”. She shared the screen with Keke Palmer in this buddy comedy movie, which was directed by Lawrence Lamont.

Now, SZA is hoping she might get a chance to join the X-Men.

Which X-Men character does SZA want to play in the MCU?

On “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” according to Deadline, SZA expressed her desire to become a superhero. She mentioned Silver Surfer as one of her preferred characters, but stated that she’s not keen on portraying him as the character is male.

Rather, SZA said she was interested in playing the X-Men’s Ororo Munroe, better known as Storm.

She hails from a completely different world, more like a jungle,” she explained. “It’d be amazing if my backstory mirrored Storm’s… I enjoy showcasing versatility.

Storm, a character co-developed by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum, initially appeared in Marvel Comics’ Giant-Size X-Men #1 (released in 1975). This Omega-level mutant with weather-controlling powers has been a pivotal figure in numerous X-Men and Marvel tales. Halle Berry brought Storm to life on the big screen in X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). A younger version was portrayed by Alexandra Shipp in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Shipp’s Storm made brief appearances in Deadpool 2 (2018) and Dark Phoenix (2019).

At present, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced any actor for Storm, and it remains to be seen when she’ll first appear in the MCU. However, it’s exciting to note that Julia Garner will portray a female version of Silver Surfer in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, set to hit cinemas this July.
