As a hardcore Euphoria fan and devoted follower of Sydney Sweeney’s career, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster waiting for Season 3. The delays have been frustrating to say the least, but I understand that sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs, like Hollywood strikes and tragic losses.
Sydney Sweeney shares that a handful of roles were put aside as she awaited the start of Euphoria’s third season.
In the HBO series “Euphoria,” Zosia Mamet portrays the character Cassandra “Cassie” Howard. The show first aired in June 2019, and its second season was released in January 2022. Following this, it was confirmed that there would be a third season, announced in February 2022.
Despite encountering several hurdles such as the 2023 Hollywood strikes, tragic losses of actor Angus Cloud and executive producer Kevin Turen, and speculations about script issues and actor schedules, it’s official: Production for Euphoria Season 3 will kick off in January 2025, according to HBO and Max’s Casey Bloys.
What did Sydney Sweeney say about Euphoria Season 3?
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sweeney mentioned that due to the numerous setbacks experienced by Euphoria Season 3, she had to decline several other projects so as to maintain flexibility in her filming schedule.
As a die-hard fan, I would have jumped at the chance for several exciting projects, but alas, my return to Euphoria was imminent. However, stepping into the producer’s role allowed me to assert, “I think not on this one! It’s time to add some of my own stories to the lineup.” That’s how Anyone but You came to be. Initially, Euphoria and another film were slated to start production, but unfortunately, we hit a snag with clearance. After a few weeks, it became apparent that neither project was moving forward, so I threw myself wholeheartedly into creating Anyone but You.
In addition to starring in “Anyone but You” released in 2023, Sweeney has recently portrayed characters such as Julia Cornwall in “Madame Web,” which came out in 2024, and Cecilia in another 2024 film titled “Immaculate.” Her next role will be seen in the movie “Eden,” directed by Ron Howard. This film had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September of this year (2021).
Euphoria Season 3 does not have a premiere date at this time.
