Switch 2 Optimizations: Nintendo Launches GameShare And Better Graphics For Top Titles

Enthusiasts of the Switch 2 have something to look forward to: Select top-tier Nintendo Switch games will receive complimentary enhancements, along with added features!

Free Updates!

I was initially disheartened when I found out I’d need to shell out extra for updates on the new Nintendo Switch. But now, my worries have been alleviated! It turns out that some games will get these updates completely free, and even more exciting features are in store!

Not only does Nintendo surprise us with a visual enhancement for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but it’s also reported that their performance will be boosted. However, these aren’t the only titles in the lineup: there are more exciting games in store as well.

In an update, both games, specifically “Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury” and “Super Mario Odyssey“, will receive improved textures and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support, along with the addition of the GameShare function. The complete list of updates can be found here.

GameShare? Perhaps You Already Know It

Even if you’re not acquainted with “GameShare”, you might recognize Nintendo DS Download Play. It’s a feature that enabled two consoles to play part of a game, mini-games, or even the entire game together, all with just one person owning the game. This sharing function was available for certain games right from their launch.

  • Super Mario Party Jamboree
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
  • Super Mario™ 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
  • 51 Worldwide Games
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Super Mario Odyssey

Just as with the DS in the past, you could only get the games if you were geographically near one another. However, the most exciting part is yet to be revealed: shared games can also be obtained on the Nintendo Switch version 1!

Did Nintendo Finally Learn?

Previously noted, the free updates for the two Pokémon spin-offs are quite significant due to the original Switch version’s poor performance. The game suffered from frequent frame drops, texture clipping, and even crashes, particularly in its early stages. These issues rekindled doubts about the Switch’s age. However, with improved high-resolution textures and a more powerful console for enhanced performance, it’s certainly worth revisiting the game to see if these issues have been addressed.

The GameShare feature, designed for the original Nintendo Switch, hints at the possibility that Nintendo may continue supporting the initial model for some time. Given the strong response from gamers following Nintendo’s suggestion to keep using the original Switch if purchasing the successor is not an option (with some even threatening a boycott!), it seems they are eagerly awaiting further updates.

How about this for a rephrase: “What’s your take? Does this recent move by Nintendo seem promising to you, or does the console still not appeal enough to you?
